Trumpet Hour: Extremism in European Elections, Renewed Fighting in Syria, Tiananmen Square 30 Years Later, and More

Download MP3 (54 MB)
Show Notes
  • All 28 European Union nations held elections for the European Parliament, and the results were very telling: Center-right and center-left parties lost ground; extreme right and extreme left parties grew in power; voters showed themselves dissatisfied with the status quo and increasingly willing to take risks with Europe’s future.
  • The government of Syria has undertaken a major offensive to gain control of the last major pocket of rebellion in the country. This battle is creating hundreds of thousands more refugees, and could coincide with the end of Iran’s influence in the country.
  • This coming week will mark 30 years since the Tiananmen Square massacre in China. We review the story behind that tragedy, and learn how China is not only unapologetic, but has since become even more authoritarian.
  • And we conclude by talking about what it means to have a strong spine.
