World Overlooks Ahmadinejad Rant

The Iranian president makes outrageous statements while the world looks the other way.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered a chilling speech to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, yet hardly anyone is talking about it. It seems as if Western leaders have gotten so used to Ahmadinejad’s anti-Semitic polemics that he is now licensed to blame “Zionists” for everything from the economic crisis to the whole world order.

“The dignity, integrity and rights of the American and European people are being played with by a small but deceitful number of people called Zionists,” Ahmadinejad claimed in his speech. “Although they are a minuscule minority, they have been dominating an important portion of the financial and monetary centers as well as the political decision-making centers of some European countries and the U.S. in a deceitful, complex and furtive manner.”

This type of language is terrifyingly similar to the propaganda espoused by the Nazis during their Nuremberg rallies. Yet only a handful of media sources are making a big deal out of these claims.

The Iranian president continued his speech by claiming that “[t]he Zionist regime is on a definite slope to collapse” and that the “American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road ….” He concluded by saying that God’s hand of power will emerge from the sleeve of the oppressed nations and put an end to America’s hegemony just before he offered of a prayer calling for the return of the Twelfth Imam—the Islamic messiah.

Ahmadinejad’s goal is to overthrow the current world order and create a world dominated by Iran’s version of Islam. His visions of global dominance and his hatred of the Jews make him very similar to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. Yet, in some ways he is more dangerous. Once Iran’s uranium enrichment program is complete, it will be a relatively simple matter to weaponize the resulting uranium stockpiles. It is time that world leaders started taking this threat a little more seriously.
