More Roads Lead to Obama
In 1992, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote that an emerging power would soon “rule the radical Islamists! Iran is a natural leader for many of them today. Iran also has a goal to lead this group.”
Back then Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was the main Middle Eastern threat. Yet this bold prophecy has clearly been fulfilled. Our main story today explains the biblical foundation for that forecast.
More roads lead to Obama: Evidence linking Barack Obama’s intelligence services to the creation of the Trump-Russia collusion narrative was exposed yesterday as an annex to Special Counsel John Durham’s 2023 report was declassified. It shows that if anything, Obama and his team were even more involved in the hoax than previously revealed.
Russia seems to have hacked the e-mails of the Open Society Foundation (George Soros’s group). A source, presumably within Russian intelligence, then passed some of this on to the FBI.
The e-mails, if genuine, show that the collusion between the Clinton campaign and Obama’s FBI got started over an FBI investigation into corruption allegations at the state department under Clinton. Donors to the Clinton foundation were allegedly given “preferential treatment.”
“Obama has no intention to darken the final part of his presidency and ‘legacy’ by the scandal surrounding” Clinton, stated one Russian memo. “To solve the problem, the president puts pressure on FBI Director James Comey, through Attorney General Lynch.” Another stated: “Barack Obama sanctioned the use of all administrative levers to remove possible negative effects from the FBI investigation of cases related to the Clinton Foundation and the e-mail correspondence in the State Department.”
The memos went on to say that Democrats were confident the story would be quashed. “According to [then-chair of the Democratic National Convention Debbie] Wasserman-Schultz, FBI, so far, does not have persuasive evidence against Hillary Clinton because of the timely deletion of relevant data from mail servers,” stated one. Another memo noted, “The political director of the Hillary Clinton staff, Amanda Renteria, regularly receives information from Attorney General Loretta Lynch on the plans and intentions of the FBI.”
To distract from their own scandals, “the Clinton staff, with support from special services, is preparing scandalous revelations of business relations between Trump and the ‘Russian mafia,’” stated one memo. The Russian term translated “special services” probably refers to the CIA or FBI.
The source soon added another Russian memo, which stated that Clinton had approved a plan to “smear Donald Trump by magnifying the scandal tied to the intrusion by the Russian special services in the preelection process to benefit the Republican candidate.”
The FBI’s source then passed on e-mails purportedly from Leonard Benardo, regional director for Eurasia at the Open Society Foundation, detailing conversations he’d had with “Julie”—probably a reference to Clinton’s foreign policy adviser, Julianne Smith.
“Julie says it will be a long-term affair to demonize Putin and Trump,” stated one. “Later the FBI will put more oil into the fire.”
A later e-mail enthuses that this “should distract people from her own missing e-mail, especially if the affair goes to the Olympic level.”
The e-mails appear genuine, as people Benardo was in contact with began using the same talking points and even identical language. That alone is a fascinating look into how Clinton’s campaign spread its take to different think tanks, who then repeated it to the media.
The FBI chose not investigate Lynch (and by extension, themselves) by dismissing the evidence as not sufficiently reliable. The CIA, however, evaluated it as “authentic” and “valid.”
The idea that in December 2016, President Obama was suddenly confronted with intelligence that Donald Trump worked with Russia, and had to scramble to respond, has been discredited time and again. Yet not enough people are asking what this means. Obama was able to thwart his successor and almost succeeded in overturning the will of the people in that 2016 election. America nearly lost its status as a constitutional republic. But where is the national self-examination to understand why this happened and how to prevent it from happening again?
“This is not merely a problem of one man at the top with a lawless spirit,” writes Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry in his book America Under Attack. He continues:
He would never have achieved the heights of power if not for a massive crisis of lawbreaking throughout the nation! Our people are saturated in sin of every imaginable type—and proud of it!There are consequences for such lawlessness. This is a clear principle spelled out in the Bible from beginning to end. This is why God punishes us with such a devastating curse.
The continued exposure of this evil should lead to national repentance. That is the only way to make the resurgence under President Trump permanent. Mr. Flurry’s book America Under Attack shows how God saved America from tyranny, why He did it, and what you need to do about it.
It’s tariff day—again: The deadline for agreeing to a new trade deal with the United States has now passed, and fresh sanctions were announced on those nations that failed to secure one in time. Only Canada’s 35 percent general tariff goes into force today; the rest are scheduled for August 7, leaving a few more days for dealmaking.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney promised to “continue to negotiate” for a deal.
President Trump also demanded that large drug makers lower prices for Americans—causing share price drops in countries with large pharmaceutical industries.
“The announcement provides confirmation that the administration is set on applying generally higher tariff rates,” said Andrew Wilson, deputy secretary general of the International Chamber of Commerce. He sees today as the end of “TACO” (Trump Always Chickens Out).
Some benefits may come from these tariffs. Many countries have been taking advantage of America. But Bible prophecy also shows the world uniting against the U.S. in trade. Watch for tariffs to accelerate that.

The German Armed Forces are recording a significant increase in recruits: As of July 21, about 183,100 soldiers were in service—2,000 more than a year ago. Voluntary military service grew by 15 percent to 11,350, and recruitments rose 28 percent to 13,750. Civilian job applications also increased by 31 percent. This surge reflects growing interest in the Bundeswehr amid renewed military focus and strong advertising. Germany aims to expand its active forces to 260,000 by the early 2030s. If volunteer numbers fall short, compulsory service could return by 2027. Germany is increasingly militarily minded, something that seemed unthinkable just a few decades ago.
A new baby name is rapidly gaining popularity in Britain: “Yahya.” It gained 33 places in ranking from 2023 to become the United Kingdom’s 93rd most popular name for boys, the biggest climb of any name. Apparently there are parents so inspired by Yahya Sinwar, the “Butcher of Khan Yunis” and architect of the October 7 massacre, that they named their sons after him. The most popular boy name overall? Muhammad. As we wrote in our January 2024 print issue, this is all symptomatic of how, as far as radical Islam goes, “London Has Fallen.”
