Will Russia Help Iran Get the Bomb?
Russia played a significant role in helping North Korea obtain the nuclear bomb, and it may now be doing the same for Iran, the Kyiv Insider reported Sunday.
Nuclear history: Soviet engineers traveled to North Korea in the early 1960s to help the nation build critical infrastructure to build a nuclear bomb. All the while, Soviet officials formally denied they were enabling North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.
Russia even signed and ratified the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, saying nuclear technology would not be transferred to other nations.
Thanks largely to help from Russia, North Korea today wields a nuclear arsenal that poses a threat to global security.
- North Korea is estimated to have 50 nuclear warheads and enough material to make 70 to 90 more.
- Its missile systems, designed to deliver nuclear warheads to their targets, have improved dramatically in recent years.
- The regime has repeatedly rejected nuclear disarmament talks.
- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un continues to view nuclear weapons as a “guarantor of regime security.”
Iran next? Even as Russia publicly claims to oppose nuclear proliferation in the Middle East, it has recently committed to supporting Iran militarily by signing a strategic partnership agreement that includes deep defense cooperation.
Despite Iran’s nuclear weapons program being set back by recent strikes from Israel and the United States, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said Sunday that “a number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.”
Prophecy says: Based on Iran’s role in end-time prophecy, we do expect Iran to obtain nuclear weapons to boost its power potential. If these are not homegrown, they could well be purchased.
Prophecy also shows that today’s nuclear arsenals won’t remain idle as mere instruments of political leverage. Unless the nations make drastic changes and turn to God, these unfathomably destructive weapons will be used.
