Russia and Indonesia Sign Military Cooperation Agreements

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto signed numerous military cooperation agreements during talks on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg on Wednesday.

The leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation in a variety of fields, including defense, technology, innovation and industry.

Agreements focused on improving defense collaboration centered around the use of nuclear energy, exchanging military delegations, ship calls to port, combat training drills, and developing military-technical cooperation.

Stronger allegiance: In November last year, Russia and Indonesia participated in their first joint naval exercises. In April this year, foreign and defense ministers from China and Indonesia met in Beijing to discuss military cooperation, signing several defense agreements.

These developments are part of a larger trend of growing allegiance between Asian powers, particularly in the area of defense.

Asia in prophecy: The Bible prophesies of a coming Asian alliance, which it calls β€œthe kings of the east.” Russia and China will head this alliance, and it will include numerous smaller neighboring nations.

Though many of these Asian nations have been divided historically, these grievances are being put aside in favor of deepening cooperation.
