Overnight Russian Strikes on Kyiv Kill 16, Injure 150
Russia bombarded an apartment block and other civilian sites in Kyiv, Ukraine, early Tuesday, killing at least 16 people and injuring more than 150 others.
- Ukrainian officials reported that more than 440 drones and 32 missiles were used in the attacks, one of the deadliest nights for Ukraine in almost a year.
- A 62-year-old American citizen was among those killed.
- At least one child is among the dead.
- Ongoing efforts are underway to locate individuals, living and dead, trapped under rubble.
- A day of mourning for the victims was declared for Wednesday.
Last night’s attack was the fourth time this month that Russia launched more than 400 munitions in a single night, reported the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.
No peace: United States President Donald Trump and his administration have discussed peace negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on numerous occasions. Trump has opted not to place new sanctions on Russia in hopes of cajoling Putin into a peace deal.
These efforts seem to be emboldening Putin’s violence.
