‘Babes Shall Rule Over Them’

By Richard Palmer • June 6, 2025

Donald Trump is certainly good for creating dramatic headlines. Some, like the epic Musk blowout, generate a lot of headlines but seem like they could blow over quickly. But President Trump is also spurring major changes all around the world—pushing the world quickly in the direction of fulfilled prophecy. Today’s main story, “How Trump Is Transforming the World,” looks at the international side of the “disrupter in chief.”

Receive a free news briefing in your inbox each weekday—the Trumpet Brief.

“Babes shall rule over them”: President Donald Trump and Elon Musk have gone from best friends to enemies in mere days. Musk continued his blunt criticism of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, complaining that “without me, Trump would have lost the election” and accusing the president of “such ingratitude.” Trump hit back, saying Musk “just went crazy” after he “took away his EV mandate that forced everyone to buy electric cars.”

“The easiest way to save money in our budget … is to terminate Elon’s governmental subsidies and contracts,” he posted. Musk responded by threatening to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft.

Musk also dropped his “really big bomb”: He posted that Trump “is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.”

My immediate response is to wonder, Are we governed by 2-year-olds? Both Trump and Musk have qualities I admire. But both fell to public bickering remarkably quickly. Musk makes good points about the debt, but surely he can make that point without aggressively attacking a man he had worked well with?

In Isaiah 3, God says He has taken away the “prudent” leaders “the counsellor” and the “honorable man.” Instead, He says, “I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.” That has been on display.

It looks like both sides are moving to patch things up and a call has been scheduled between the two. But the display of emotional immaturity is a sad reflection of modern leadership.

There was much less drama when German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met President Trump in the White House. Merz’s biggest goal was likely to avoid drama, so he probably doesn’t mind his meeting being overshadowed. President Trump called Merz “a very good man to deal with” and said he hoped to reach “a good trade deal” with the EU. He also said he had no plans to pull the 40,000 U.S. troops out of Germany. Merz gave the president a copy of his grandfather, Friedrich Trump’s 1869 German birth certificate. The president also accepted an invitation to visit Germany.

“None of this means that it will be smooth sailing for the next 3½ years together, but it’s about the best possible start to the relationship at the leadership level,” former U.S. diplomat Jeff Rathke told Reuters.

Merz also said that “we are prepared to take on a bit more leadership responsibility in Europe when it comes to future trade agreements.” America is eager to pass on the baton of global leadership, and Germany says it is ready for more responsibility. America will keep pushing Germany to do more as Trumpet executive editor Stephen Flurry explained on yesterday’s Trumpet Daily.

Germany—Israel’s friend of foe? In a world that has turned against Israel Germany appears to be one of its only friends. However, the Jews’ World War ii enemy and postwar ally is giving conflicting messages. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met with German counterpart Johann Wadephul in Berlin yesterday. At the meeting Wadephul:

  • Vowed to support Israel
  • Called recognizing a Palestinian state at this moment “the wrong signal” (France, Canada and the United Kingdom disagree on the timing)
  • Promised continued weapons deliveries (something Wadephul previously questioned)

However, Wadephul also:

  • Criticized Israeli plans to build 22 more “settlements,” in the West Bank, calling them illegal under international law
  • Rejected Israel’s plans to weaken Hamas by controlling the food supply to Gaza
  • Said allowing other aid organizations in “is not only a humanitarian imperative, it is also international law”

Sa’ar thanked Germany for its support, while disagreeing with the criticism. Sa’ar also expressed concern over rising anti-Semitism: “Eighty years after the Holocaust, anti-Semitism has spread, unfortunately, across the world, especially in Europe. … Eighty years after the Holocaust, the Jewish state is under an open threat to eliminate it. Hamas, the Houthis, Hezbollah and, above all, Iran openly act to eliminate us. Yet there are those who seek to turn the victim into the aggressor.”

There are plenty of signs that an existential threat to Israel does not originate solely from its next-door neighbors. While Germany appears as friend and foe alike, Israel’s trust in Germany has been prophesied, as is a coming betrayal.

IN OTHER NEWS

Russia launched more than 400 drones and 40 missiles, according to Ukrainian authorities. Russia said the strikes were in response to Ukraine’s attack on Russian bombers, which it labeled “terrorist acts.” The Kremlin said this was an “existential” issue for Russia, and it seems to be ramping up its offensive not backing down. After the 2014 Crimean crisis, Mr. Flurry wrote that Ukraine is “the linchpin” of Putin’s goal “of a renewed imperial Russia!” He said, “Mr. Putin was doing everything in his power to keep the wheels from falling off his dream of a new Soviet empire.” That remains the case today. To understand why Putin is so determined, read Mr. Flurry’s booklet The Prophesied ‘Prince of Russia.’

Go East: Georgia is closing its information center on nato and the European Union in a clear sign that it is moving away from both institutions. Putin has patently returned Georgia to the Russian orbit, as our In Brief explains.

The Popular Force, a Palestinian militia in Gaza, is receiving weapons from Israel, including arms captured from Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed yesterday. Israel has also granted them control over some territory near the southern city of Rafah. The Popular Force sprang up as part of the black market stealing foreign aid; Hamas accuses their leader, Yasser Abu Shabab, of being a criminal. Netanyahu said the policy “saves the lives of Israeli soldiers” by supposedly creating an Israel-friendly militia to help fight Hamas. But as Mr. Flurry’s booklet Jerusalem in Prophecy explains, trusting Palestinian groups will only lead to greater problems for Israel.

Made in China: “Iran has ordered thousands of tons of ballistic-missile ingredients from China,” the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday. This includes ingredients for fuel. One source claimed some of the material could be sent to the Houthis. As Iran continues to fulfill its prophesied role as “the king of the south” and push at its neighbors, partnerships with countries like China are bound to destabilize circumstances even further.

Jerusalem in Prophecy
Jerusalem means “city of peace,” and yet this city’s history has been filled with rivers of blood! No city has suffered like Jerusalem. It has known almost no peace. But there is very good news. God established Jerusalem to be a city of peace—and will one day make sure that it becomes so! It is actually the city from which God’s Family will rule the entire universe!
The Prophesied ‘Prince of Russia’
Vladimir Putin is playing a key role in Bible prophecy. Every world leader needs to understand how critical that role is going to be. We are entering into the worst crisis ever in man’s history. This prophecy is woeful and super-inspiring at the same time.
