U.S. Carrier Loses Second Jet in Eight Days
America’s uss Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier on Tuesday experienced its fourth major failure since arriving in the Red Sea in mid-December when an F/A-18 Super Hornet jet—a $67 million warplane—rolled off its deck and plunged into the sea.
- Last Monday, another jet of the same model tumbled off the carrier and was lost at sea.
- In February, the ship was involved in a collision.
- Days after the Truman’s deployment, one of its F/A-18 Super Hornets was accidentally shot down by a U.S. cruiser.
Details: The F/A-18 was attempting to land, but the Truman failed to slow it down, causing the jet to fall off the carrier. The plane’s two aviators sustained minor injuries and were saved by a helicopter. Nobody on the carrier was injured.
Prophesied weakness: These incidents are costly embarrassments for the world’s most formidable military. The Bible prophesied the rise and fall of the U.S. superpower. It warned that if America refused to obey God, its military exploits would fail.
Such events are a sign that America is not right with God. If the U.S. is to have any hope of defending itself in the future, it must turn to the Being who gave America its many blessings.
