Israel Approves Bold Plan to Capture ‘All of Gaza’

Israel’s security cabinet unanimously approved a broadened offensive into the Gaza Strip on Sunday that would see the nation capture the territory for an unspecified duration.

The details were not officially announced, but according to Israeli officials quoted by the Associated Press, the strategy includes “capturing of the strip and the holding of territories.”

  • The offensive will also seek to relocate Palestinian civilians to the south in order to protect them from the fighting and restrict Hamas from seizing humanitarian aid.

Details: The offensive will likely start after United States President Donald Trump’s visit to the region next week. Involved parties will continue to try for peace or a ceasefire until then.

What next? To this point, Israel has not publicly committed to any “day after” plan for Gaza, but the latest news suggests it may have to commit to one soon. Whatever plan Israel implements will have massive reverberations in the Middle East at large.
