The corporate media is predictably outraged after Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested for helping an illegal immigrant criminal avoid the law. Some leftist news outlets, such as the Guardian and the Intercept, even accused President Donald Trump’s administration of fascism for arresting Dugan. Yet the truth is that Dugan deliberately broke the law, a magistrate judge signed a warrant for her arrest, and law enforcement officers carried out their duty.

Before she became a judge, Dugan was an executive director for Catholic Charities usa, an organization that resettles immigrants from all over the world. She was well aware of United States’ immigration law. Yet when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued an arrest warrant for Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a 30-year-old Mexican illegal immigrant accused of assault and battery, Dugan helped Flores-Ruiz try to evade arrest.

The fbi then opened an investigation into Dugan’s behavior and charged her with two felony counts of obstruction and concealing an individual. U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Dries signed the fbi warrant for Dugan’s arrest on April 24, and federal agents apprehended her the next day.

fbi Director Kash Patel summed up the facts this way: “We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject—an illegal alien—to evade arrest.”

Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated that Dugan’s arrest is a warning to other judges: “I think some of these judges think they are beyond and above the law, and they are not. And if you are destroying evidence, if you are obstructing justice, when you have victims, sitting in a courtroom, of domestic violence, and you’re escorting a criminal defendant out a back door, it will not be tolerated.”

Reactions to the arrest split along party lines. Sen. Bernie Sanders said, “Let’s be clear. Trump’s arrest of Judge Dugan in Milwaukee has nothing to do with immigration. It has everything to do with his moving this country toward authoritarianism. … Trump continues to demonstrate that he does not believe in the Constitution, the separation of powers, or the rule of law. He simply wants more and more power for himself.”

Yet Sanders could not specify what laws the Trump administration had broken. Dugan helped an illegal alien evade arrest. The fbi charged her with three felonies. A federal judge signed her arrest warrant. She was arrested. Two branches of the federal government were involved in the decision to prosecute Dugan, and there is no evidence President Trump was personally involved.

This case is about enforcing the rule of law.

Back when Democrats were accusing Donald Trump of characterizing “hush money” as a “legal expense,” we heard endless talk about how no one was above the law, not even the president. But this judge is liberal—liberal to the point of committing crimes to assist criminal immigrants evade apprehension—so now Democrats are claiming that the president is directly involved, and that he is, of course, fascist.

The Democrats’ hypocritical double standard is alive and well.

There must be only one standard of justice for everyone. Presidents should not be allowed to falsify business records, and judges should not be allowed to help illegal immigrants evade arrest. President Trump was charged with 34 felonies for calling “hush money” a legal expense, even though nondisclosure agreements are indeed legal expenses. So why shouldn’t Dugan face trial for helping a domestic abuser evade justice?

The answer to this question is that Senator Sanders has it backward: This case has nothing to do with authoritarianism and everything to do with immigration. Democrats are desperate to help illegal aliens—even if they are criminal gang members—evade arrest, avoid prosecution, remain in the United States and continue doing what they’re doing. Why?

They are still trying to “fundamentally transform the United States of America” by importing non-Americans and making them into de facto—if not de jure—Americans.

“This is an orchestrated Communist assault on America, to destroy America’s borders, to create confusion in America, to overwhelm the system politically,” bestselling author Trevor Loudon, a communism expert, told the Epoch Times in 2019. “You can see what 15, 16, 20, 25 million new Democratic voters are going to do to this country. You will lose Texas; you’ll lose Florida; you will lose Georgia, Arizona and North Carolina. There will never be, ever, another Republican or conservative president in our lifetimes. You will have a one-party state in America. And that is the plan. That is why they are doing this. This is Marxist. This is Leninist. And this goes back to American politicians cooperating with hostile foreign powers in the destruction of America. And their No. 1 weapon is illegal immigration and overwhelming the border. That’s what they’re doing.”

This push was at its strongest under 12 years of Barack Obama—both during his official two terms and in his unofficial third term controlling Joe Biden.

Now that President Trump is back in power, he has sealed the border and ended Obama’s border catastrophe. So the Democratic Party is doing everything in its power to prevent President Trump from removing the millions of illegal immigrants that Biden, Obama and previous presidents allowed into the country.

In 1915, President Theodore Roosevelt warned, “The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities ….” One of the founding fathers’ greatest fears was sharp divisions between factions. Perhaps their greatest fear was lawlessness. Now we have both—and it’s by design!

God said that this would happen! In The United States and Britain in Prophecy, Herbert W. Armstrong identified the American colonists as descendants of the biblical tribe of Manasseh. In passing the birthright promises to the two sons of Joseph in Genesis 48, Jacob said Ephraim’s descendants would become a company of nations in these latter days (Britain) and that Manasseh’s would become a single great nation (the United States). “Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall“ (Genesis 49:22). This meant that Joseph’s descendants would become a colonizing people in the latter days, branching out from the British Isles all over the Earth to become the largest empire in world history.

“But how can we be Manasseh when a large part of our people have come from many nations besides England?” Mr. Armstrong asked. He answered:

A large part of Manasseh remained with Ephraim until the separation of New England. But our forefathers were to be sifted through many nations, as corn through a sieve, yet not a grain to fall to the earth or be lost (Amos 9:9). Our people did filter through many nations. Ephraim and much of Manasseh finally immigrated to England together, but many others of Manasseh who had filtered into and through other nations did not leave them until they came, as immigrants, to the United States after the New England colony had become the separate nation. This does not mean that all foreigners who have immigrated into this country are of the stock of Manasseh, but undoubtedly many are. Israel, however, always did absorb Gentiles, who became Israelites through living in Israel’s land and intermarrying.

Thus we have become known as the “melting pot” of the world. Instead of refuting our Manasseh ancestry, this fact actually confirms it. The proof that we are Manasseh is overwhelming.

The fact is that the melting pot has cracked wide open and is being filled by foreigners who are not descendants of Manasseh. This actually adds to the proof of America’s biblical identity. As Mr. Armstrong proved in his book, the very blessings God bestowed on us because of Abraham’s faithful obedience are now being withdrawn because of our sins.

One of the curses God promises to send because of our disobedience is found in Deuteronomy 28: “The stranger [foreigner] that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail” (verses 43-44).

Even well-known commentators who disregard these prophecies or who reject America’s biblical identity can see that we are on a disastrous course. America is splitting apart at the seams. As Patrick Buchanan writes, “[T]he likelihood of her survival as one nation through midcentury is improbable—and impossible if America continues on her current course. For we are on a path to national suicide” (Day of Reckoning: How Habits, Ideology and Greed Are Tearing America Apart).

In fact, the time table for our demise is much shorter than he realizes. But he’s right that the course we are on is fatal.
