Three Killed in Shooting in Sweden
Three people were killed in a shooting in Uppsala, Sweden, on Tuesday. Police have launched an investigation into the homicide.
Witnesses reported hearing five shots of gunfire outside a hair salon, which sent people scrambling for cover and one person fleeing on an electric scooter. Three people were found dead at the scene.
Police tracked down and arrested the individual who fled on the scooter; scooters have often been used for transportation after gang-related shootings in the country.
Police said the arrested suspect under age 18, and those who were killed were between the ages of 15 and 20.
Gang violence: The motive of the shooting is still under investigation, but it seems to be gang-related.
According to Swedish public broadcaster svt, one of the victims was a suspect for a planned attack on a relative of a well-known gang leader, Ismail Abdo. Abdo leads the Rumba organization, a gang believed to be linked to Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Once known for its low crime rates, Sweden has had a staggering increase in gang violence over the past decade, particularly involving teenagers. One of the causes for this rise in violence is Sweden’s open-door migration policy.
Europe vs. Iran: A sharp rise in terrorism and violence, especially linked to Iran, has sent Europe into defense mode. Many European nations have begun to clamp down on migration as their societies are targets for Islamic terror and related issues.
However, an aggressive Iran and a defensive Europe is not a good sign for the world. To understand why, read our Trends article “Why the Trumpet Watches Iran and Europe Heading for a Clash of Civilizations.”
