Democrats Fight Harder for Illegal Aliens Than for American Citizens

Leftist efforts to bring an MS-13 gang member back to America are turning public sentiment against Democrats.

House Democrats are lobbying for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien and MS-13 gang member deported to El Salvador last month. President Donald Trump deported him on March 15 after invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which give the president wartime authority to deport foreign invaders.

District Court Judge James Boasberg tried to stop the deportation of Kilmar and others by arguing that America was not at war with El Salvador, therefore President Trump did not have authority to deport without due process. Since the plane carrying Kilmar to El Salvador was already in the air, however, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele simply responded by saying: “Oopsie… too late.”

The Supreme Court has since responded by clarifying that “intended deportees must be notified in time that they can petition for a writ of habeas corpus.” Since Kilmar was not notified in time to do this, the court further ruled on April 10 that his removal was illegal. Bukele has promised Trump that he will not “smuggle a terrorist into the United States,” but many House Democrats want him to do just that.

Reps. Robert Garcia of California, Maxwell Frost of Florida, Yassamin Ansari of Arizona and Maxine Dexter of Oregon announced in a press release on April 23 that they had arrived in El Salvador “to pressure the Trump administration to abide by a Supreme Court order to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.”

A group of protesters gathered outside the White House last weekend for a “Free Kilmar” protest, yet opinion polls indicate a majority of Americans support President Trump’s deportation agenda. Although the Supreme Court may have sided with Democrats in saying Kilmar’s deportation was illegal, the efforts Democrats are undertaking to bring this MS-13 gang member back to America may turn public sentiment against them.

For years, Democrats have trampled the constitutional rights of American citizens. Former President Barack Obama modified and ignored provisions of the Affordable Care Act with barely a pretense of legality. He launched a military campaign in Libya without congressional approval. He evaded the constitutional requirement that the Senate confirm high-level government officials by appointing “czars.” He asserted the right to kill American citizens without due process if a “high-level official” says they pose an imminent threat to the nation. Yet now his party is willing to fight tooth and nail for the “rights” of an MS-13 gang member who isn’t even a citizen.

It is obvious that Democrats are not fighting for Kilmar because they believe in due process; they are fighting for him because they believe in illegal immigration. They care more about MS-13 than they do about you.

Of course, going forward, President Trump should abide by the Supreme Court’s decision to give “intended deportees” time to “petition for a writ of habeas corpus” since this is what the court has decided. The chief executive of the United States does not have authority to overturn Supreme Court decisions. He only has authority to appoint new Supreme Court justices when vacancies open up.

Many Americans feel that the Supreme Court erred in this case by granting “habeas corpus” to those who are not American citizens. But that is not exactly what happened in this complicated case.

The Supreme Court’s unanimous April 7 holding was that “intended deportees must be notified in time that they can petition for a writ of habeas corpus.” Then 12 days later, Chief Justice John Roberts and six other justices issued an injunction temporarily blocking President Trump from deporting illegal aliens identified under the Alien Enemies Act. Both Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented from this injunction, saying that it was prematurely made before the court heard arguments from the opposing party.

To clarify, neither Alito nor Thomas has a problem with giving intended deportees time to ask for a trial before their deportation. Such a provision would act as a safeguard, ensuring that American citizens are not wrongfully deported after being falsely accused of being illegal immigrants. They have a problem with the court’s April 19 injunction that President Trump must stop deporting illegal alien gang members until further notice. As long as President Trump gives intended deportees time to prove whether or not they are American citizens, the Supreme Court has no constitutional authority to stop him from enforcing America’s border laws. Justice Roberts’s efforts to do so are making gang members into an imaginary “class” of aliens.

President Trump slammed the Supreme Court’s decision, saying it would take “200 years” to try every illegal migrant in America. This is why Alito and Thomas are recommending giving intended immigrants a little bit of time to prove whether or not they are citizens and then get rid of them. We must uphold the rule of law in America, and that means finding ways to deport the millions of immigrants who came here illegally.

The late Herbert W. Armstrong explained in The United States and Britain in Prophecy that the English-speaking peoples who settled the U.S. and Britain descended from the lost tribes of Israel. This astonishing truth means that the Bible’s prophecies about Israel are directed largely at America and Britain.

One specific prophecy in Isaiah 1:7 says, “Your country lies desolate, your cities are burned with fire; in your very presence aliens devour your land; it is desolate, as overthrown by aliens” (Revised Standard Version).

In other words: Because the American people have turned away from God’s law, their “cities are burned with fire” and “overthrown by aliens” in their midst. President Trump is doing his best to remove many of these strangers, but activist judges are working hard to make this task almost impossible. America desperately needs God’s aid to avert an oncoming catastrophe brought on by decades of radical, open-border policies.
