Chinese Spies Put Taiwan on Alert

Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te said on April 16 that staff members of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (dpp) are required to report any trips planned to China.

This ruling was made because of Chinese spies recently found in Taiwan’s government. The threat of moles in the government and armed forces is an ominous sign for the island nation whose independence is under constant threat.

Details: China is allegedly leading an espionage ring within Taiwan’s government. This year, Taiwan has arrested:

  • Huang Chu-jung, who was allegedly recruited by Beijing while in China; Huang revealed classified details concerning Lai’s travel plans and recruited more spies for China, while holding a job as an assistant to a dpp city councilor.
  • Ho Jen-chieh, who assisted former Foreign Minister Joseph Wu
  • A retired military general accused of plotting to form an armed group to aid a Chinese invasion
  • Another former lieutenant-general and his girlfriend, charged with helping China and receiving almost $300,000 in payment

Taiwan’s National Security Bureau says that since 2020:

  • 159 people have been charged for leaking confidential information to China.
  • 60 percent of those, including 43 officers, were current or former members of Taiwan’s army.

The bureau claims China targets financially unstable soldiers and tries to bribe or blackmail them into revealing sensitive information.

Prophesied end: Bible prophecy shows that China will soon conquer Taiwan. China’s insidious infiltration of the island, as well as its rapid military build-up, show how this could soon come to pass.
