Ukraine: Europe’s Weapons-Testing Ground

European military planners are eager to test new weapons in real battle scenarios in Ukraine, the Washington Post reported on Saturday.

The report comes in the wake of the European Commission pledging a new €1 billion (us$1.1 billion) aid disbursement to Ukraine on April 8, part of a planned fund of over €20 billion it will pump into Ukraine’s defense sector over the next year.

  • This is the largest sum to be designated specifically for Ukrainian artillery production.
  • It is to be used to fund the production of howitzers.
  • The aid comes from the profits of frozen Russian assets.

As doubts grow surrounding the United States’ willingness to continue to help Ukraine, Europe is stepping in.

Europe’s drive to invest directly into Ukrainian arms manufacturing instead of sending weapons built in other countries is expected to make aiding Ukraine faster, cheaper and more effective, according to Katarina Mathernova, the European Union ambassador to Ukraine.

Testing ground: In a press conference after the meeting, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized the major benefit the arrangement will have to supporter nations:

The support we provide to Ukraine is not a one-way road; it is a win-win situation. The insights we gain will benefit both us and Ukraine. We will learn from it too.

Militarized: The Bible prophesies of a German-led military superpower that will play a pivotal role in a devastating global war. This is why the Trumpet closely watches as Europe, led by Germany, actively prepares for war.
