China Tests Nonnuclear Hydrogen Bomb
Chinese researchers have successfully tested a hydrogen-based bomb that mimics the intensity of a nuclear blast without using nuclear materials, the South China Morning Post reported on April 20.
The weapon uses magnesium hydride, a solid material that stores hydrogen. When triggered, the material fractures into fine particles and releases hydrogen gas that creates a sustained fireball at over 1000 degrees Celsius (1800 degrees Fahrenheit).
- The fireball lasted more than 2 seconds, 15 times longer than that of conventional tnt.
- Because it does not use nuclear materials, the bomb avoids restrictions under international nuclear treaties.
Uses: Chinese analysts said the bomb can destroy drone swarms, disable vehicles, and block access to important areas. Its sustained heat can burn through armor and buildings, making it a powerful weapon for attacks on fortified positions.
The demonstration of the new weapon highlights a new class of high-energy nonnuclear weapons that could transform the traditional battlefield.
Asian powerhouse: Expect China and other Asian nations to grow more and more powerful as they expand their arsenals with new weapons. Bible prophecy foretells of a massive and destructive Asian army that will take part in the largest war mankind has ever seen.
