EU Announces €800 Billion Boost to Defense Spending in ‘Era of Rearmament’
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday presented a plan in which the European Union will mobilize around €800 billion for defense in an effort to rearm Europe.
We are in an era of rearmament. Europe is ready to massively boost its defense spending—both to respond to the short-term urgency to support Ukraine, but also the long-term need for more responsibility for our own European security.
—Ursula von der Leyen
The announcement came the same day United States President Donald Trump said he would suspend all aid to Ukraine after Friday’s disagreement in the Oval Office.
Details: The EU will free up budgets for member states where defense investments are low. It also proposed to borrow up to €150 billion for joint procurement of defense, and the plan suggests mobilizing private capital for defense investments as well.
Von der Leyen explained that member states should increase defense spending by 1.5 percent, which would create an additional €650 billion for defense funding in four years.
I have outlined in a letter to leaders of the European Council the Rearm Europe Plan. This centers on how to use all the financial levers at our disposal in order to help member states quickly and significantly increase expenditures in defense capabilities.

Defense industry: European defense stocks such as bae, Rheinmetall, Thales and Leonardo are skyrocketing after President Trump’s efforts to sign a deal with Russia have destabilized trans-Atlantic relations. These companies will receive the new funding and lead the era of European rearmament that is no longer dependent on America.
Rising superpower: Watch for Europe to continue breaking away from the U.S. to form a powerful, unified military. Bible prophecy shows the Continent will soon morph into a superpower unlike anything mankind has ever seen.
