Afghan Refugee Rams Car Into Crowd in Germany

An Afghan asylum seeker rammed his car into a crowd of trade union protesters in Munich, Germany, on Thursday morning, killing one and wounding at least 28.

The attack comes as the city is set to host the Munich Security Conference this weekend, with world leaders traveling in, including United States Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Details: Police said the man drove past a police car, then accelerated into the crowd. Police shot at the vehicle and arrested the driver.

The 24-year-old Afghan citizen arrived in Germany in 2016. His asylum application was rejected, but he was allowed to stay. Leading up to the attack, he was sharing Islamist content online. He was previously known to authorities due to theft and drug offenses.

Pattern: The terrorist attack comes three weeks after an Afghan immigrant stabbed a 2-year-old boy and a man in a knife attack on kindergartners in Bavaria. Two months ago, a Saudi immigrant drove a car through a large crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, killing three and injuring dozens more.

Failed leadership: These immigrant attacks fuel the frustration and anger of the German public with the way its government has “handled” major issues like migration. While Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government is on the way out, the upcoming elections don’t promise a solution.

Watch for this to pave the way for a prophesied strongman to take charge.
