Russia Is Executing Ukrainian Prisoners of War

There has been an “alarming rise” in the numbers of Ukrainian prisoners of war executed by Russian soldiers, the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (hrmmu) reported on Monday.

  • hrmmu’s most recent report documented 79 executions of captured Ukrainian soldiers in 24 distinct incidents since the end of August 2024.
  • The mission analyzed Ukrainian and Russian footage, geolocation data and witness testimonies as part of its research on human rights violations.

Criminal: International humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions, stipulates that the execution of captured enemy military personnel is illegal and inhumane. It is categorized as a war crime.

Obeying orders: The report highlights that these killings are not isolated actions of certain rogue soldiers. They are in response to orders from Russian officials and military groups, at least three of which have been recorded by hrmmu.

The list of human rights violations in the Russo-Ukrainian War is growing.

At any cost: Russia is willing to do anything to defeat Ukraine, in spite of legality or international norms. This provides us with a closer look at the ruthless nature of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is specifically identified in biblical prophecy.
