Newsweek Braces Leftists for King Donald Trump
The new Newsweek magazine cover features Donald Trump with the quip “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” The cover article is “Sweet Revenge: What Trump Would Do in a Second Term.”
Leftists who have resisted and attacked Donald Trump’s campaign, presidency and post-presidency are now contemplating that he will return to power. From the article:
[S]ome broader actions seem certain, according to current and former Trump insiders interviewed by Newsweek: avoiding his first-term approach of appointing people who might protect him from his worst instincts and instead packing the administration with loyalists; trying to get a firmer grip on the military with an eye to consolidating power; drastically shrinking the civil service and throwing a steady diet of red-meat culture-war goodies at his base.
The article predicts Trump will “prize loyalty over all else”—a safe assumption after zero top officials in his administration effectively resisted or even contested leftist attacks, up to and including a coup that overthrew the 2020 presidential election.
Author David Freedman and other leftists aren’t resigned to Trump’s return: They are already attacking it. He writes, as if unaware of the irony:
The fbi, Internal Revenue Service and the military could be harnessed to harass or imprison his political enemies. … And basic democratic norms, such as the constitutional prohibition of a third presidential term, could give way.
This negative portrayal of a yet-future Trump administration is also designed to shield the current Joe Biden-Barack Obama regime, which, both before and after seizing power in 2020, is documented as using the fbi, irs, cia and military to attack and imprison, without trial, political enemies, conservatives in general and other everyday Americans. Obama is currently in his “third term” through his control of a debilitated Biden.
Freedman also predicts that Trump will remove large numbers of leftist career officials deeply embedded in the federal government. This “deep purge of government” is a move that many Americans have craved for decades, but powerful socialists have feared.
Trump has already tipped his hand about how he plans to dismantle the “deep state,” an imagined army of liberals permeating government down through the civil service that’s prepared to undermine conservative values at every turn.
Newsweek apparently senses the inevitability of something that Bible prophecy and the Trumpet have forecast: that Donald Trump will return to power.
