Democrats’ Radical Environmentalism Is a Trojan Horse for Totalitarian Government

Environmentalists are praising the Biden-Harris administration for canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement. But the Green New Deal Network, the Justice Democrats and the Sunrise Movement are upset at Joe Biden’s reluctance to spend even more money on climate issues. After White House officials indicated on March 22 that they wanted to spend $400 billion combating climate change, the Sunrise Movement called for $10 trillion over the next decade.

That amount of spending on climate change would enable the most significant government expansion in U.S. history. Still, the eco-socialists may get their way unless something dramatic happens soon.

Instead of pushing for a Green New Deal, eco-socialists are using an infrastructure bill as a Trojan horse to sneak aspects of the deal into law. Sen. Ed Markey wants this bill to include many elements of the Green New Deal. “It’s a way of accomplishing many of the goals of the Green New Deal,” Markey told the Globe, before urging colleagues “to go big and bold to match the urgency of the moment.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says that Biden’s team is still discussing the infrastructure bill, but Democrats want to earmark $1 trillion for the roads, bridges, rail lines and electric vehicle charging stations needed to facilitate the shift from fossil fuel-powered transportation to green energy.

In addition to this infrastructure spending, newly reported e-mails show that Democratic attorneys general are plotting radical environmentalists to force states to slash their carbon footprint.

These e-mails were obtained by board member Chris Horner at Energy Policy Advocates. They show how attorneys general were conspiring with the Biden presidential campaign to regulate carbon dioxide emissions without congressional approval. Since carbon dioxide is necessary for life to exist, Democrats cannot classify it as a pollutant (though that suggestion was brought up). So, the plan calls for the Environmental Protection Agency to tighten ozone emission standards to force states to outlaw certain types of natural gas-powered appliances, gas stations and internal combustion engines.

“The plan represents a huge power grab for the federal government, potentially the largest in decades,” David Ditch, a budget and transportation associate at the Heritage Foundation, told the Epoch Times.

Rep. Ralph Norman was even more adamant. He told ntd News, “Socialism probably is right around the corner—absolute socialism. … You can’t tax your way into prosperity. We’ve just come off the pandemic; people have been out of work. To impose this kind of tax increases—which is taking our money that we’ve earned and giving it to the government—is going to hurt.”

The goal of switching to renewable energy sources is noble, but using trillions of taxpayer dollars to build electric vehicle charging stations while forcing private companies to stop burning fossil fuels will devastate the economy. More specifically, it will destroy the private sector and transform America into a Venezuela-style socialist state by nationalizing the energy industry in the name of environmentalism.

And the tragic irony is that these moves won’t even help the environment much.

Electric vehicle charging stations still pull energy from an electric grid that is 60 percent powered by fossil fuels, and making unconstitutional laws to force companies to stop burning natural gas does not give these companies a viable business model for days when the wind is not blowing and the sun is not shining. And even if it did, research from the Heartland Institute shows that the computer simulations used by climate scientists to make predictions ignore the basic fact that the heating effects of carbon dioxide are not linear. The first 20 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere produces more warming than the following 400 parts per million. This means that carbon dioxide has probably already warmed the atmosphere almost as much as possible.

Examples of scientific fraud abound when it comes to proving man-made climate change, because the government officials financing climate change research are more interested in power than in science (please read our article “Greenhouse Apocalypse” for a more detailed analysis of this subject).

The executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change almost admitted to scientific fraud in 2015 while describing the real motive behind the Paris climate talks.

“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said. “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.” She was talking about free-market capitalism!

Eco-socialists want to destroy capitalism, so they are pressuring the Biden-Harris administration into treating carbon dioxide as a pollutant so they can take over the economy.

“The governments most in favor of confronting climate change are the socialist, Marxist-type governments that want to control everything,” wrote Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry in “What the Paris Climate Agreement Was Really About.” “Most of the money collected for climate change initiatives goes to these types of governments. Governments direct research money toward studies aiming to reinforce the notion that such regulation is necessary. Contrary information is ignored or discredited. But there is plenty of such information out there. Climate change has become something like a religion for the radical left. They believe it as an article of faith regardless of the evidence.”

The oldest book in the Bible states that God balances the vapors in the atmosphere and warms the Earth with a south wind (Job 37:16-17). He commands the clouds do His will, whether for mercy or for correction (verses 12-13). The burning of fossil fuels may have some limited effect on global temperatures, but politicians exaggerate this effect to convince people that curses sent from God are an excuse to destroy capitalism—and capitalism’s primary defender, the United States of America.

Like many other actions taken by the Biden-Harris administration, the infrastructure bill (and the Green New Deal hiding inside it) weaken America and empower America’s enemies.

Rather than outlawing natural gas appliances and adding trillions of dollars to the national debt building vehicle charging stations, America’s leaders should be telling people to humble themselves, pray and turn from their wicked ways. As Mr. Flurry wrote in “The Deadly Climate Change Deception,” “God will continue to ratchet up the weather disasters until we finally begin to listen to Him! He wants to give us every blessing imaginable, but first we must turn to Him in humble obedience.”
