Arms Up

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, military spending is at its highest level since the peak of the Cold War in 1987. Rising 11 percent from 2002, world expenditures totaled $956 billion in 2003. This is 18 percent higher than 2001.

This remarkable increase reveals a frightening trend. Prior to 2001, military spending had been holding relatively steady and even slightly decreasing for nearly a decade.

The United States spends nearly the same amount on military as all other nations combined. Bible prophecy shows that the U.S. will soon be toppled by a superior military force, which means something dramatic must occur in the meantime. Surely, America’s strength is being “spent in vain” (Leviticus 26:20).
