‘The Europeans Will Counterattack and Destroy Iran’
“Suddenly the mullahs are threatening the Bundeswehr!” That’s the headline from the tabloid Bild this morning. Germany is waking up to the fact that it is a target of Iran. Why?
[BRIEF]
Two Iranian agents have just been sentenced to jail for planning to murder politician Volker Beck, head of the German-Israeli society.
- Iran is accusing Germany of an “anti-Iranian” campaign, claiming that innocent people with ties to Iran have been “harassed” by the German government.
Beck says Germany needs a tough response. When the attack was foiled in June 2025, the German government summoned the Iranian ambassador. Beck said another mere summons in response to the sentencing would be “ridiculous.”
“Respect is only earned through self-respect,” Beck said. “Mr. Wadephul, kick out Iranian Ambassador Majid Nili Ahmadabad! And shut down the Iranian Embassy, because anti-German terror is being planned there.”
Past collusion: German intelligence services and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps once had a cozy relationship after working toward the same goal of taking down the Serbs during the Yugoslav Wars.
- Germany smuggled weapons to the Catholic Croats, while Iran did the same for Muslim Albanians. Germany thereafter turned a blind eye to Iranian networks and activities in Germany, as long as they weren’t used to plan attacks in Europe.
- Iran has repeatedly broken that agreement by conducting state-sponsored terrorism and espionage on European soil—including these recent assassination plots. Now the two sides are becoming more hostile.
Iran has focused most of its rhetoric and energy on attacking the United States and Israel in the Middle East, leading, among other things, to the current Iran war. But Bible prophecy reveals that when Iran targets Germany, far greater conflicts will erupt.
Earlier this year, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote:
Since 1992, I have identified the king of the south as radical Islam, led by Iran. This prophecy reveals that radical Islam will push at the king of the north—a German-led European empire—provoking a war. The Europeans will counterattack and destroy Iran and take their allies captive. …
The push will revolve around Jerusalem. It could also involve Iran shutting down trade routes. This clearly shows that the Iranian terrorist network, if not dealt with, will grow stronger and more aggressive. If the U.S. doesn’t repent and deal with this problem, Germany will.
Sure enough, as the Beck situation shows, Germany and Iran are moving steadily closer to confrontation.
Is This It for Bibi?
Israel votes tomorrow—the nation’s first national elections since the Hamas massacre three years ago this month. Before, during and after that national crisis and its aftermath, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has led the nation. From 1996–1999, 2009–2021 and 2022–2026, the Likud Party and “Bibi” have been entrusted with Israel’s safety and survival. Now, at 77 years old, he is running for an unprecedented seventh term.
- Repeated polling suggests neither Likud nor its leading opposition challenger, the Yashar party, will gain enough seats to form a majority government or even to lead a coalition of aligned parties.
Netanyahu and Likud seem desperate.
- Likud prompted the Central Elections Committee to ban all Arab-interest parties from running, because they are anti-Zionist, on September 23. This has been true for years, so making this move a month before a tough election reads like a campaign strategy. Israel’s Supreme Court annulled the decision on October 2.
- The prime minister has made posts on social media suggesting he is the only leader who can prevent nuclear destruction for Israel. Posts like an October 25 AI-generated photo of Tel Aviv under a mushroom cloud if he loses are widely seen as scaremongering.
Netanyahu has craved help from President Donald Trump. The two are wartime allies, yet for months, Trump withheld his endorsement. On October 18, he finally posted his support on social media, calling Bibi “a great warrior prime minister, and an even greater partner for peace in combating the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Trump said “anyone other than Bibi” would be “the wrong leader for Israel” and he is “the kind of partner that the United States of America is demanding of Israel.”
- What the president’s endorsement lacked in promptitude it made up for in fulsomeness, but was it still too little, too late?
- The next day, Netanyahu posted a video of a phone call with Trump, thanking him for his endorsement and saying that, together, they will finish the Iran war in victory. Netanyahu’s campaign has repeatedly pointed back to this endorsement, and President Trump reposted it yesterday.
Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has for years pointed to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s leadership as a singular force keeping Israel safe from its many enemies. Netanyahu’s critics may have valid reasons to be fatigued by him, but Netanyahu has provided Israeli politics with stability for years.
However, as Israelis vote tomorrow, this stability appears to be in jeopardy. Bible prophecy shows that political instability heralds dark times for Israel.
Brazil’s Election Stuns the World
Socialist incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won Brazil’s presidential election yesterday, official results say. However, his right-wing opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro, refuses to concede and demands annulment of the result, which he calls “inexplicable.”
- Latin America has shifted to the right in elections over the last three years. Polls indicated Brazil would as well after Bolsonaro won the first round of elections on October 4.
Left-wing President Lula defied the polls, officially winning the runoff with 52 percent of the vote and a margin of 4.4 million votes.
- Bolsanaro is the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, who lost against Lula in 2022 and also rejected the election results.
There is reason to question the numbers:
- After Lula said buses had been taken out of service in cities that favored him, the Supreme Court extended voting by two hours.
- “Several electoral lawyers say today’s vote could be annulled due to confusion over the late decision to extend voting hours,” the New York Times reported yesterday. “All four lawyers interviewed call the situation unprecedented.”
As Gerald Flurry has emphasized, Bible prophecy indicates Latin America will align with Europe due to a strong historic Catholic faith in the former and a reawakening of that faith in the latter. In “America Is Being Besieged Economically,” he highlighted Jair Bolsonaro’s Catholic faith as a sign for ideological alignment.
- However, it was under Lula’s presidency that Brazil finally signed a major trade agreement with the European Union.
Though Brazil’s leadership is uncertain, prophecy clearly indicates it will form a dangerous alliance with a new European superpower, as explained in “Germany Unites the World Against America.” This alliance will be held together by Catholicism. Thus, the Trumpet continues to watch Catholic Latin American leaders closely.

China and Russia flex military muscle during Japan-U.S. drills: Chinese spy planes, drones and warships are ranging near Japan’s southwestern islands, and Russian reconnaissance planes are prowling the Sea of Japan as Japanese and American forces conduct major military exercises in the region, Geopolitiki reported today. “Keen Sword 27,” which began October 19 and runs through October 29, involves approximately 45,000 Japanese personnel and 12,000 U.S. troops. The Chinese and Russian activity comes amid a broader pattern of military cooperation between the two near Japan, including joint bomber flights and naval operations. Tensions are worsening between Asia’s most powerful nations, but biblical prophecy shows that they will ultimately set aside their differences and unite.
