Is Iran Readying Chemical Weapons?
Israel has briefed the United States that Iran is considering using chemical weapons, the New York Times reported yesterday. U.S. intelligence agencies are divided on the reliability of the claim, and Gulf Arab governments reportedly are skeptical of it.
- The Islamic Republic has had a chemical weapons program in one form or another since the Iran-Iraq War of 1979–1989.
- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei published a statement on October 31 telling Iran’s military to meet Israel and U.S. strikes “with an immediate and effective response, without geographical limitations.”
- The U.S. government assesses the threat to Americans in the Middle East to be at its greatest since the war began in February.
The U.S. announced on November 3 that it will end its approximately $4 billion in military aid to Israel at the end of this year, rather than the end of 2028 as originally planned.
- U.S. President Donald Trump admitted this was to counter the Democrats’ argument that Israel controls U.S. foreign policy.
The U.S.-Israel alliance is in increasing political disarray while the Iranian regime doubles down in assertiveness and aggression.
- Such a dangerous regime controlling weapons of mass destruction is an international crisis. Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has warned that Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons will trigger a cataclysmic world catastrophe.
