Russia and China vow to deepen military ties

Russia and China will strengthen mutual trust and strategic communication in the military realm, Zhang Shengmin, vice chair of China’s Central Military Commission, said yesterday during a meeting with Russian Defense ‌Minister Andrei Belousov in Beijing. The meeting marked Zhang’s first with any foreign official since he was promoted to the Chinese Communist Party’s Politburo last week. Russia and China have forged an extraordinary level of political cooperation in recent years that includes high-level military exchanges, joint war games and direct cooperation in support of Russia’s war on Ukraine. Zhang is seeking to take that partnership further, advancing the formation of the powerful Russia-China bloc described in biblical prophecy.
