He Was Right—Again

Communism is “a kind of warfare we don’t understand or know how to cope with,” wrote Herbert W. Armstrong in 1956. He continued:

It uses every diabolical means to weaken us from within, sapping our strength, perverting our morals, sabotaging our educational system, wrecking our social structure, destroying our spiritual and religious life, weakening our industrial and economic power, demoralizing our armed forces, and finally, after such infiltration, overthrowing our government by force and violence! All this, cleverly disguised as a harmless political party! Communism is worldwide psychological warfare!

[BRIEF]

It’s not exactly breaking news that he was right. We have a chapter in our free booklet He Was Right dedicated to this forecast. But new revelations have further confirmed the story.

The U.S. State Department yesterday published a 100-page report exposing Cuba’s decades-long attack on the United States:

  • “For nearly seven decades, the Cuban regime has waged a sustained campaign of subversion against the United States. It is a campaign that has infiltrated the highest reaches of the U.S. government, recruited and cultivated generations of American activists, backed an unprecedented wave of left-wing terrorism on American soil, and carried out one of the most durable and damaging foreign intelligence penetrations in American history.”
  • “Havana never possessed the capacity to defeat the United States in a conventional armed conflict. Instead, the Cubans perfected a new model for a long war of attrition, organized around espionage, infiltration, sabotage, proxy networks and a revolutionary infrastructure designed to turn America against itself.”
  • Cuba built “a sprawling revolutionary network that shaped a disproportionate share of America’s most famous and influential extremist movements, from the Black Panthers and the Weather Underground through to Antifa.”
  • “Cuba’s assault on the United States was never, at root, a quarrel over economic policy or sovereignty or even ownership of a particular territory. It was a revolution against Western civilization itself—waged, in part, via the novel and insidious method of persuading the children of the West to turn against their own inheritance.”

The woke takeover of America’s universities “reflects, at minimum, the successful exploitation of institutional vulnerabilities by external actors—chiefly the Soviet Union’s intelligence apparatus and, subsequently, China’s Ministry of State Security,” according to a piece published by Emzari Gelashvili in RealClearDefense last week:

  • “As someone who in 1996 personally reviewed kgb operational archives in Tbilisi … I can state with confidence: what I watched unfold in American universities, classrooms and cultural institutions over the following three decades corresponds, in structural terms, to the operational patterns described in those archives.”
  • Eighty-five percent of Soviet foreign spending went to “the systematic destabilization of target societies from within.”
  • “Operational documents specified that education was to be stripped of mathematics, physics, chemistry and foreign languages. In their place: social grievance curricula, permissiveness, ideological conditioning. The intended output was explicitly named: ignorance.”

Gelashvili argued that describing absolute truth as “racist,” was deliberately targeted to slow down American science:

The United States competes with China and Russia in advanced technology, defense systems, AI and biomedical research. If American scientists are trained to prioritize ideological coherence over empirical rigor, the consequences are not merely cultural. They are strategic.

The Communist attack from within has been one of the most dangerous and successful attacks on the United States. It’s not merely a physical, material attack. It’s a spiritual warfare.

“Communism is the devil’s effort, through his demon-inspired human tools, to take from us this greatest national and economic blessing God ever conferred on any people!” Mr. Armstrong wrote in the January 1949 Plain Truth. It’s an attack that must be exposed and understood. “The Communist Infiltration of America Was Prophesied” has more.

The U.S. Military Is Out of Money

The United States Department of War “faces an urgent budget shortfall caused largely by the war in Iran, with some critical lines of funding set to run out within weeks,” the Washington Post reported yesterday. The breakdown of President Trump’s ceasefire threatens to exacerbate this financial crisis.

  • The Post’s sources claimed “the funding crunch is already leading the Pentagon to limit training and maintenance that help maintain military readiness.”
  • President Trump is waiting for Congress to consider granting him an extra $67 billion for the Iran war alone. The government’s current estimates for the war’s total costs are reportedly around $100 billion.
  • The war’s initial phase of fighting from February to April severely taxed America’s munitions stockpiles. These will take years to replenish. A “U.S. official” speaking with the Post earlier this month, referring to the current round of fighting, claimed: “We do not have enough [munitions] to safely sustain operations, and I don’t think the White House is aware of that.”

Iran is not the world’s only major flashpoint. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is ongoing and has drained U.S. resources. China is making overt threats of taking over Taiwan and the South China Sea. Hamas is still fighting Israel in Gaza. For decades, the United States was the West’s primary enforcer to deter or limit conflicts like these.

The Iran war’s financial statistics raise the question of whether the U.S. can keep fulfilling this role even if it wanted to. They are another sign that, as Trumpet managing editor Joel Hilliker wrote in 2014, “Pax Americana joins Pax Britannica and Pax Romana: It’s history. … The big question now is, what happens next?

German-Russian Secret Talks in Azerbaijan

“Our territory was used for such a meeting without our knowledge,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev told reporters at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz yesterday. He was referring to a secret meeting between former German and Russian officials that took place July 12 to 14.

There have been at least four meetings in Baku and Abu Dhabi since the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

German government clueless? “I’m not aware of any such meeting,” Merz said at the same press conference.

  • Historically, Germany and Russia have been both rivals and partners. For years the Trumpet has warned that the two will once again plot together to overthrow the present world order. These secret meetings are yet another sign of this.

Who is talking:

  • Ronald Pofalla, former chief of staff to former Chancellor Angela Merkel
  • Matthias Platzeck, former state premier of Brandenburg
  • Valery Fadeyev, head of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Council for Civil Society and Human Rights
  • Viktor Zubkov, former Russian prime minister and current Gazprom supervisory board chairman

Germany’s Die Zeit and ard Kontraste exclusively revealed on July 16:

Also present was Alexey Gromyko, director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Science. In a confidential report to the Kremlin some time ago, his institute recommended that “the fear among German citizens of a possible conflict between nato and the Russian Federation” should be stoked.

Putin also held a private meeting with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder last month.

What are they talking about? We don’t know. But the above quote suggests something sinister.

Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry warned in 2018 concerning Germany and Russia’s partnership: “The fact that these two are working so closely together strongly indicates that they agree on a plan to destroy nato.”

Official or unofficial? “Is this a group of former politicians on a private mission? Or are they perhaps acting in coordination with the federal government?” the ard investigative report asked.

Russia wants to destroy nato to resurrect the Soviet Empire. Germany wants to destroy nato and gain military dominance over Europe.

The Ukraine conflict has sown distrust for U.S. military security guarantees and has allowed for increased German militarization. What else are Germany and Russia up to?

Direct U.S.-Hezbollah talks are a possibility, United States President Donald Trump said yesterday. “I would speak to Hezbollah,” he said. “I speak to everybody. I’ll speak to people that a lot of people think I shouldn’t be speaking to, and things work out.”

China courts Thailand: China and Thailand agreed Monday to establish a “two plus two” dialogue cochaired by their defense and foreign affairs ministers. The mechanism will deepen security cooperation between the two nations and advance efforts to create a code of conduct for the South China Sea. The move follows similar dialogues China has recently launched with Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam, as it works to expand its strategic influence across Asia.
