Federal judge strikes down Trump’s $100,000 worker visa fee
On Monday, U.S. Federal District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin in Boston struck down the Trump administration’s $100,000 fee on new H-1B visas, which was designed to reduce the number of foreign workers taking lower-paying American jobs. He ruled that the executive branch violated the Administrative Procedure Act by imposing what amounts to a tax on H-1B petitions without the requisite delegation of authority from Congress. The Trump administration is preparing to appeal the decision.
