Britain’s COVID inquiry makes no sense

Almost five years after the British government misled and locked down its people over covid-19, it has released what the Telegraph called “the most protracted, bloated, ill-conceived public inquiry in British history.” The government’s verdict is basically that its covid response was “too little, too late.” According to the report, lockdowns were a counterproductive economic disaster, yet they should have been implemented earlier. The report says lockdowns could have been avoided entirely if contact tracing and self-isolation—in other words, government lockdowns—had been enforced even earlier. This puzzling and unhelpful report cost British taxpayers $260 million. It is but one example of why Britain’s economy is a sick joke.
