Germany Starts Air Bridge to Gaza

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on Monday that Germany, in cooperation with Jordan, will establish an air bridge to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. He stated, “We want to end the humanitarian suffering of the civilian population in Gaza as quickly as possible.”

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will coordinate efforts with France and the United Kingdom to support the initiative. On Tuesday, Germany deployed two A400M transport aircraft to Jordan for this purpose.

Ignoring Israel: Merz noted that the effort will only provide “a small amount of help,” but failed to acknowledge Israel’s own initiative, which has saved thousands from starvation despite Hamas’s attempts to control aid distribution. Unlike Israel’s initiative, Germany will not be able to prevent the goods from falling into terrorist hands.

There is a dilemma here: We are supposed to rescue the hostages, provide for the population in Gaza, and fight the terrorists at the same time. In Gaza, schools have been turned into weapons depots, mosques into barracks and hospitals into command centers.

There are no simple solutions to complex problems. Anyone who criticizes Israel must take note of this reality.
—Ron Prosor, Israel’s ambassador to Germany

The real reason: It would be naive to believe that Germany is oblivious to this reality. So why is Germany pushing its own initiative instead of supporting Israel’s? In his article “As You Watch Gaza—Watch Germany,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry explains what Germany’s involvement in the conflict is really about.
