Netanyahu Alone

Israeli Embassy attack: Two Israeli Embassy staffers were murdered by an anti-Zionist activist outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., last night. Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were planning to get engaged next week in Jerusalem. Lischinsky had already purchased the ring. The two embassy workers were attending a reception for diplomats at the Jewish Museum. As they left, a gunman shot them, shouting, “Free, free Palestine.” It comes as leaders around the world spread lies about Israel and fake news about starvation and genocide in Gaza.

[BRIEF]

It comes as leaders around the world spread lies about Israel and fake news about starvation and genocide in Gaza.

We must also hold to account the irresponsible leaders in the West who give backing to this hatred—whether through appeasement, double standards or silence.

French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney have all, in different ways, emboldened the forces of terror through their failure to draw moral redlines. This cowardice has a price—and that price is paid in Jewish blood.

The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, fled into the museum, where security guards stopped him. When the police arrived, he reportedly admitted to the shooting. “He grabbed a red kaffiyeh out of his pocket and started ‘Free Palestine’ chant,” said a witness. “There’s only one solution, intifada revolution,” he continued.

Israel isolated: The attack comes as Israel is increasingly being isolated in the world. President Trump’s coolness toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has convinced world leaders that they can attack Israel without annoying Washington. Trump’s actions have “opened the way for America’s allies to revolt against Israeli policy,” writes the Telegraph this morning. The UK has frozen trade talks and has joined Canada and France in threatening sanctions on Israel.

Even at home, Netanyahu is increasingly isolated. “In the days following the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, attack, Israelis were unified in the belief that the country had to fight back,” wrote the Wall Street Journal last night. “More than 19 months later, many are saying it is time to stop.” They cite polls showing that 70 percent of Israelis want to end the war in exchange for the release of the remaining hostages. Such a deal isn’t on the table, so it’s unclear if all 70 percent oppose Netanyahu. But clearly his strong focus on defeating Hamas is losing support.

Netanyahu has reportedly read every biography about Winston Churchill. Once again, he is being called upon to stand alone. Before, he looked forward to a change in the White House to bring him more support. But with President Trump in office, the best he can now hope for is a change of heart.

“Netanyahu was fighting and winning like no Israeli prime minister has done for quite some time,” wrote Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry. “He has the will to fight, fight, fight for his nation in a war. That is the kind of ally you need in the fight for freedom! …

“This is the challenge Israel faces. But we have seen real fight in the Jewish state. The survival of their nation depends on it. Fight, fight, fight—or die as a nation!”

He described an early poll that found 64 percent of Israelis supported releasing terrorists with “blood on their hands” in return for hostages. “This shows that the people are far weaker than they should be,” he wrote.

In a world of weakness and irresolution, Mr. Netanyahu is willing to stand up to evil like no one else. And for that, he has become one of the world’s most hated men. Perhaps that fact, as much as anything else in the news, exposes how evil the world has become.

Donald Trump dropped some truth bombs on South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa during a visit to the Oval Office yesterday. President Trump has called the world’s attention to the persecution and murder of white farmers in South Africa. Ramaphosa insisted it’s not an issue, and to prove his point, he invited South African golfer Retief Goosen. But then Goosen described the “constant battle” his family faced on their farm, with black attackers “trying to burn the farm down to chase you away.” Perhaps he wasn’t the best person to choose.

Trump then showed a video of South African politicians calling for the murder of white farmers. One of the most outspoken is Julius Malema. Ramaphosa insisted he and his party have nothing to do with Malema. I’ve not seen a single left-wing outlet point out that Malema once led the youth wing of Ramaphosa’s own party. He was finally kicked out in 2012, but for years the African National Congress was fine with his calls to murder Boers.

President Trump is being attacked in the press for drawing attention to this evil that masquerades as rectifying racial injustice. (We explore the truth on this issue in our Trumpet World interview with Ernst van Zyl.) South Africa is an example of the end result of many of the policies that the left wants to bring to Britain, America and other Western countries.

“South Africa is the first of the Anglo-Saxon nations to give away its God-given birthright,” wrote Mr. Flurry when Nelson Mandela became South Africa’s president in 1994. The Trumpet wrote in 1997: “Disaster looms huge on the horizon of South Africa, as godless communism has its day bringing an [African National Congress]-dominated government to power with the apparent full endorsement of Western society!”

“[We] are witnessing the fall of South Africa as a prelude to the accelerating descent of the United States and of the once great British company of nations,” our e-book South Africa in Prophecy states. “South Africa is the first major domino to fall in what will become a free fall into slavery of those once mightiest nations on Earth!”

Britain is set to give away the Chagos Islands to Mauritius—and pay £9 billion (us$12.1 billion). It’s a bonkers agreement that will satisfy only the Chinese Communist Party-appointed judge on the International Court of Justice, who ruled that this must happen. Mauritius has no history of owning the Chagos Islands. We’re handing over a crucial air base to a random country 1,000 miles away that’s aligned with China. We’ll be renting the air base back for 99 years—if they don’t tear up the deal. It’s another sea gate given up.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz is visiting Germany’s first permanent foreign military base today. The new 45th Armored Brigade was officially put into service on April 1. But with the German government in limbo, the chancellor didn’t attend. So Merz will attend a more official ceremony today. Britain giving up one of its last bases on the same day that Germany opens its first is a powerful symbol of the changing power in Europe. The new base is a major step in Germany’s remilitarization.

Fake books: The Last Algorithm, by Andrew Weir, and Tidewater Dreams, by Isabel Allende, are among 15 recommended books to read this summer, according to an article that appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer and others. Try to track them down, though, and you’ll have a hard time. Ten of the books on the list don’t exist. The article’s “author” used ChatGPT to write the article. Neither he, nor any of the outlets that published the syndicated article, checked to see if the books were real. As if newspapers needed help from computers to generate fake news.
