Netanyahu Pleads With Europe for Help

Israel wants Europe to help confront Iran.

“Stop it now while you are in a strong position to do so.” Those were the words issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a series of interviews with European news stations on October 10.

The interviews were conducted with news stations from some of the European heavyweights; Germany, France and the United Kingdom. To long-time readers of the Trumpet, the thought of Israel going to Europe for help—particularly Germany—should set off some prophetic alarm bells.

For many years the Trumpet has warned that a German-led EU is set to take on a destructive role in the Middle East as explained in Daniel 11:40. Our booklets Germany and the Holy Roman Empire and The King of the South give a thorough explanation of the identities of the kings of the north and south. They are the aforementioned German-led EU and a radical Islamic conglomeration, headed by Iran.

Israel is now calling on Europe to do more to stop the Iranians obtaining the nuclear bomb. The interviews came only days after Netanyahu addressed the United Nations on the same issue. As powerful as that speech was, Netanyahu was trying to convince a crowd that is already being fooled by Rowhani’s “moderate cloak.”

Although it might be difficult to convince the U.S. of the immediate danger of a nuclear-armed Iran, it may be far easier to convince the Europeans, who can be reached by Iran’s longer-ranging missiles such as the Shahab-4.

Mr. Netanyahu was quick to explain the stark realities that would come from Iran having the bomb. “If [the Iranian regime] is not stopped immediately, there won’t be just two bombs pointed toward you [the Europeans], but 200.”

Netanyahu’s plea to Europe is the latest example of Israel’s stepped-up focus on convincing European nations to intervene. On March 12, Israeli President Shimon Peres stood before the European parliament and begged for more European involvement in the region. It was the first time an Israeli leader has addressed the body in almost 30 years. President Peres focused on two specific issues: the importance of the European Union branding Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, and taking action against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

During Netanyahu’s interviews, the Israeli prime minister told Europe to “be strict, be strong, be consistent.” Of course, this is exactly how Bible prophecy says Europe will act! The European mindset has been evident over the course of history. As Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote, “Germany has been at the heart of several resurrections of the “Holy” Roman Empire spanning more than 1,500 years. It thinks in terms of the Reich, which means empire.”

Netanyahu told the reporters that he keeps two photos on his desk. One is of Theodor Herzl, the founder of the Zionist movement, and the other is of Winston Churchill. The Israeli prime minister said we can all learn a lesson from Winston Churchill, because he stated, “Don’t let the Nazis arm. Don’t give immense power to an inflexible, extremist regime.” Netanyahu is trying to relate the Nazi rise to that of Iran, but he is missing the far greater danger!

In his article titled “A Whirlwind Prophecy,” Gerald Flurry wrote:

The Allies never rooted out that deep feeling after World Wars i and ii. After the Second World War, the Allies said, “It is our inflexible purpose to destroy German militarism and Nazism and to ensure that Germany will never again be able to disturb the peace of the world.” But look at the map and you can see who is really preparing for war! Just as in 1870, 1914 and 1939, German militarism is about to again disturb the peace!

The German people are prophesied to defeat the Iranian led king of the south, but that doesn’t mean the world will be a better place. At that point, there will be a great double-cross.

Read on in verse 41 of Daniel 11. It speaks of how the German-led European power will enter into the “glorious land.” Mr. Flurry continues:

It certainly seems that something would have to happen to cause the Jews to want Europe to march its armies into Israel to protect them.Yet study the rest of these prophecies! They show that this is when the world will witness the most devastating double-cross in history!”And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh,” Jesus warned (Luke 21:20).

When Netanyahu goes to Germany and Europe for help, he doesn’t realize what he is asking. A lack of understanding of the whirlwind prophecy and the double-cross to follow it are set to take Israel down a path that will lead to its own demise.

The good news behind this—for Israel, Germany and the whole world—is that as we see these things happening it is a sign further that the return of Christ is imminent. “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. … [W]hen ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand” (Luke 21:28, 31).
