The Communist Conquest of Canada

The response to covid-19 reveals that Canada has succumbed to a decades-old attack.

Today is Canada Day, when all of Canada can collectively celebrate our establishment as a free nation. But not everyone is celebrating. In Toronto, Ontario; Victoria, British Columbia; and other places, Canada Day has been canceled.

This is partially a reaction to the discovery of several hundred bodies on residential school properties, which some feel is justification to cancel the positive celebration of Canada’s history. But Canada Day is also being canceled for another reason: covid-19. The government’s reaction to the virus has revealed some shocking truths about Canada.

First, it has shown how willing our federal and provincial leaders are to lock down people in their homes, infringe on rights and freedoms guaranteed in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and exercise autocratic rule.

Second, it has demonstrated how compliant Canadians have become to following any directions from the government, even when these directions violate their rights. There does seem to be a growing silent majority that does not agree with some, or all, of the governmental policies. But the damage has already been done. The coronavirus was the perfect storm for these leaders to take advantage of Canada’s polite, compliant society.

But how did Canada become this way? Should we cancel Canada Day, or should we celebrate our heritage? Are the leaders deliberately seizing power, or is it all well-intentioned measures to keep Canadians safe? Have the people been conditioned for compliance, or is that just a conspiracy theory?

The truth is, Canada is an example of what happens when a nation succumbs to Communist infiltration of its government and education. Our leaders’ proclivities to being autocrats and Canada’s politically correct, compliant society were deliberately manipulated to transform Canada into a Communist dictatorship. This attack has been going on for decades.

However, one man warned of this attack and prophesied what would happen to Canada over 70 years ago.

Communist Infiltration

At the beginning of the Cold War, much of the focus was on the potential for military clashes between Soviet and American forces and the prospect of nuclear war. The West was slow to recognize that the clear and present danger was in the ideological war and the subversion by Communists within our own nations. However, in 1956, Herbert W. Armstrong warned of this exact war that America and the West was in:

It’s a kind of warfare we don’t understand, or know how to cope with. It uses every diabolical means to weaken us from within, sapping our strength, perverting our morals, sabotaging our educational system, wrecking our social structure, destroying our spiritual and religious life, weakening our industrial and economic power, demoralizing our armed forces, and finally, after such infiltration, overthrowing our government by force and violence! All this, cleverly disguised as a harmless political party! Communism is worldwide psychological warfare!

The Trumpet has reported on and documented this infiltration into the United States during the 1960s and 1970s. (To learn more about this, please read our free booklet He Was Right, and Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry’s article “The Roots of America’s Dangerous Turn Left.”) Both Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Flurry have specifically noted the most effective attack was the Communist conquest of the educational system. Mr. Flurry wrote: “It was in the education system that the left got its foothold into the nation: first in colleges, then high schools and even elementary schools. It is from the education system that a nation gets its leadership. Where did the ideas of America’s leaders today come from? From our educational institutions.”

If you control the classroom, then you shape the minds of the future generations. From those generations come the leaders and educators, and the cycle keeps repeating itself. This infiltration that was taking place in the U.S. also took place in all Western countries during that time, especially Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

In his landmark book The United States and Britain in Prophecy, Mr. Armstrong proved that the United States and United Kingdom are descendants of biblical Israel (please order a free copy to prove it for yourself). The nations of the British Commonwealth, which include Canada, are descendants of the tribe of Ephraim, specifically. The anti-God, Communist ideology especially attacks the nations that have a history with God. This Communist attack has manifested differently in each nation, and especially in Canada, which has always straddled the worlds of English and French.

French vs. English

If there is one word to summarize Canadian history and character, it is compromise.

The French first arrived in what would become Canada in the mid-1500s. During the many conflicts between Britain and France, the British pursued a policy of fighting France in its colonies instead of mainland Europe. The Battle of Quebec in 1759 on the Plains of Abraham outside Quebec City during the Seven Years’ War eventually gave Britain control over virtually all of North America.

The British allowed the French to stay in Quebec and committed to a policy of compromise after unsuccessful attempts to assimilate the French inhabitants. This was the beginning of Canada’s inherent instability. The British view 1759 as the start of Canadian history; the French view it as the tragic end of Canadian history. The British are mostly Protestant; the French are Catholic. One speaks English; the other French. What is more, Mr. Armstrong showed that the British are from the tribe of Ephraim and the French from the tribe of Reuben, which adds sibling rivalry to the layers of competition between the two peoples. (These facts can be proved by reading The United States and Britain in Prophecy.)

There is no unifying story of national birth transcending ancestry and race in Canada like there is in the United States, but only a legal construct committing the government to compromising between the two parties. The divide was amplified after World War ii when the separatist movement sprouted in Quebec and gained much of its momentum from Charles de Gaulle, who visited in 1967 and said “Vive le Québec libre!” (“Long live free Quebec!”).

This spirit of compromise has saturated every aspect of Canadian law, government and society. It has been taught as a way of life to Canadians. This way of governing and thinking paved the way for the Communist attack of the educational system.

Transforming Education

In 1997, Canadian author and historian J. L. Granatstein documented the infiltration of Marxists into Canada’s schools in his book Who Killed Canadian History? These facts directly match the warning from Mr. Armstrong.

The first battle between the Marxists and traditional educators started in labor history. Instead of investigating why unions were created or what grievances workers had, the Marxists asked students, Why did they rise up against their oppressors? and, How can a general strike be used as a weapon? Granatstein explains:

Both sides fought with vigor, but no one can compete with the Marxists in vituperation. The old-style institutional labor historians were either driven out or left the field to seek new areas to work in. The Marxists had complete control of the labor history field, including the journals and the students, and they maintain it still, notwithstanding the discrediting of Marxism everywhere in the world. The universities, sheltered from the real world, continue to protect their Marxists.

This attack soon spread to all other fields of history, with each special interest group staking its claim. Granatstein continues:

It was far more important to study how workers resisted industrialization, the Marxist historians claimed; to investigate how birth control was practiced before the Pill, feminist historians maintained; or to document gay men’s experiences in Toronto bath houses, than to study the boring lives of prime ministers, the efforts of the Canadian Corps in the Great War, or the Quiet Revolution in Quebec. Blame had to be allocated. Canada was guilty of genocide against the Indians, the bombing of Germany, the ecological rape of the landscape, and so on. Their aim was to use history, or their version of it, to cure white males of their sense of superiority.

The protected Marxist educators have been changing history curricula in elementary, high schools and universities to make our young people ashamed of their history and filled with self-hate. They also seek to blot out any history of British, Caucasian men. They wanted to “cure” them of their superiority over other groups and races. Granatstein explains, using a preview of a popular history textbook for universities titled History of the Canadian Peoples:

It is a self-consciously a history of the Canadian peoples—note the politically correct use of the plural—that is deliberately intended to be about the common folk, not the kings, prime ministers and elites. As its preface proudly states, it is a history written to counter that produced in the past by “a small elite of educated white men to be read by others like themselves.” It is not a history of war and political developments “in which they and their peers participated,” nor is it a history written “from the point of view of people who dominated such events.” Moreover, it is not a history written from a central Canadian perspective. Instead, this is history from the points of view of women, the working class, minorities and regions.

This historical view has been taught to divide Canadians into small factions and to proclaim the false narrative of how Canada has oppressed women and minorities. But why the attack on Caucasian, English history? The reason is unlocked by what Mr. Armstrong wrote in The United States and Britain in Prophecy. Canada was part of Ephraim’s inheritance, or part of Britain’s domain, not Reuben’s (France). The Communists attack the English-British history because they hate God! That is why in Canada you have the complete blotting out of British males from history, such as Sir John A. Macdonald, and the lionizing of such criminals as Louis Riel.

Once you change the story of how a nation came to be and who that nation is, you can change the people. When you combine this onslaught on Canada’s identity and history with the spirit of compromise saturated in Canadian thinking, you have a deadly combination.

The fruits of the Communist efforts to indoctrinate Canadians have come to full bloom through the political dynasty of one family: the Trudeaus.

Trudeauism

There has been no more charismatic prime minister of Canada than Pierre Trudeau. It sparked “Trudeau mania.” But the fruits of his leadership are deeply troubling. Particularly, the Trudeau family have a consistent history of having a “soft spot” for tyrants, as writer Mark Milke highlighted in a 2018 Maclean’s article “The Trudeau Family’s Love of Tyrants.” Milke wrote:

Having a soft spot for tyrants prompts multiple blind spots, whether on democracy, the economy or, more recently, on the environment. All have been on display in the Trudeau family’s ongoing infatuation with tyrannies and autocracies in the comments from Alexandre, Margaret and Justin Trudeau. We see evidence of the Trudeau family’s long love affair with the world’s autocrats and tyrants. But the problem started with Pierre.

This infatuation is more than a “soft spot,” but a clear friendship of like minds. In the January 2016 Trumpet issue, contributor Robert Morley exposed the Communist education, history and policies of Pierre Trudeau and his son, current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In his article “Like Father, Like Son,” Morley exposed that both have been on record praising brutal Communist dictatorships and flaunting the lawful rights of Canadians. This love for Communists was also clear in the education policies and constitutional reform of Pierre Trudeau.

In 1965, Canadian history teacher A. B. Hodgetts convinced the government to conduct a report into how Canadian history education was impacting Canadians’ attitudes toward their government and nation. Granatstein writes, “Hodgetts’s report sparked a growth in interest in Canada,” which prompted the Trudeau government to provide extra funding to the provinces for “Canadian studies.” This was not what it seemed to be, however. Granatstein continues:

The boom in Canadian studies turned out to be very different from an interest in the Canadian past. Canadian studies was … whatever those who taught something, anything, about Canada wanted it to be—an amalgam of literature, art, current events, politics, and public issues, and the environment

This movement only increased the speed at which Canadian history was replaced with Communist propaganda. What created more confusion and division is the fact that education is controlled on the provincial-territorial level, ensuring that there are 13 different versions of Canadian education. This started to impact how Canadians thought of their heritage and traditions, which allowed Pierre Trudeau to completely overhaul the Canadian Constitution in 1982 and enshrine this way of thinking into law. Granatstein writes:

The Canadian studies boom was part of a larger shift in attitudes toward learning …. In society at large (and especially after the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms came into force), the emphasis shifted from community to individual rights and freedoms, and, outside Quebec, group rights began to be seen an anti-democratic. The schools reflected the shift …. To educational theorists, history was boring, irrelevant, and fit only for the slag heap, except for small nuggets that could be pulled out of the past and made useful for current concerns about racism, gender equity, and the plight of native peoples. That all this trashing of history and heritage would be destructive and divisive, rather than a uniting force, did not seem to matter.

Trudeau attempted for years to reform the Canadian Constitution (created on July 1, 1867), but he was not able to succeed until 1982, when he added the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to the Constitution Acts. While the charter does enshrine many important rights for Canadians, it also enshrines the values inserted by Marxist educators, focusing on multiculturalism, minority rights and the rights of the individual, and it placed Quebec in a position of power over the rest of English Canada. While the rights are not bad in and of themselves, it is the context they have been given by the educators that causes the problem. The charter and the Communist curriculum go hand in glove to impose their way of thinking on Canadians and empower the “oppressed victims” over the British-English traditions of Canada. Radical lawyers and judges have used the charter to continually force compromise on the majority of Canadians, even if they don’t agree with it. As Granatstein writes:

The result of this perspective, as Michael Bliss put it in 1991, was the “sundering” of Canadian history, a sundering that mirrored the fragmentation of the nation. The result we live with every day is a separatist-minded Quebec, an unhappy West, and a Charter of Rights-driven emphasis on individual or group rights.

Nothing illustrates this more clearly than the response to covid-19. The nation is fracturing into multiple groups, and within each province each health region is acting independently of another, with no consistency. It has illustrated how willing Canadians are to compromise with their own rights because they have been taught to compromise with their own values in classrooms all over the country.

Pierre Trudeau was perhaps the most visible product of the Communist educational system, but we have a whole generation of leaders who think the same way. Some may call themselves conservatives, liberals or New Democrats, but a leopard can’t change its spots: All leaders from all parties have amassed power and violated the rights of Canadians. Trudeauism is the mainstreaming of Communist-style rule in the government.

The Normalization of Communism

kgb defector Yuri Bezmenov warned America in the 1970s that Communist ideological warfare was in four stages: 1) demoralization, 2) destabilization, 3) crisis and 4) normalization. Both the United States and Canada have had their educational systems infiltrated by Communists, as Mr. Armstrong warned 70 years ago, but both nations are in different stages of this ideological warfare. In America, there is a war over the soul of the nation. In Canada, the normalization of communism is in full swing.

In Canada, there is no leadership to oppose the radical, leftist policies of the provincial and federal governments. There may be a growing majority who do not agree with their rights being trampled and governments amassing power, but they have no voice or organized way to oppose the autocrats in power. The replacement of history in schools with feminism, victimhood and Marxist ideology has taught Canadians to think like their educators: socialists, Marxists, Communists. The introduction of nationalized health care, comprehensive regulations and a generous welfare system has taught Canadians a reliance on the government that is absent in America. The spirit of compromise, embedded in Canadian life, has been used against Canadians to compromise with their fundamental beliefs. A new national identity has been fabricated by the educators and media that focuses on apology, feminism, political correctness, and multiculturalism. The identity of Canada as a British dominion, part of the British Commonwealth, has been all but blotted out!

America is an example of when a Communist infiltration leads to war over its survival; Canada is an example of when a Communist infiltration has nearly completed the coup d’etat.

Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote in the April 2021 issue of the Trumpet magazine in an article titled “America Has No Helper” that 2 Kings 14:26-28 is an end-time prophecy showing that God “saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter.” America, Britain and Canada are in bitter affliction! Verses 26-27 show that God saw there was no helper, no leader to save Israel from this attack, and so God sent a leader to save them temporarily: King Jeroboam ii. Mr. Flurry has shown that this end-time Jeroboam is United States President Donald Trump! The evidence proves this. Without God using Mr. Trump to fight back against the radical left, the Communists would have won. (Please read Mr. Flurry’s booklets America Under Attack and Great Again for more information.)

What can be done to save Canada? The answers do not come from any man or leader. We have to look to God for the solution. As Mr. Flurry writes, that is the only place we can look and have hope: “Satan is trying to blot out the name of Israel. The good news is, God has a master plan to save Israel permanently—and He is carrying it out! There is hope—but only in God.”
