Iranian President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Iraq today for an official state visit—his first since taking office in 2013. Symbolically, Rouhani’s visit announces to the world, and particularly the United States, that Iraq is now firmly in the Iranian camp. Twenty-five years ago, when Saddam Hussein was the greatest threat to peace in the Middle East, my father wrote that Iraq would eventually fall to Iran. This stunning prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes.
