Iran and Europe on Nuclear Deal

Iran’s foreign minister and European Union counterparts held talks in Luxembourg yesterday in an effort to reach a deal over Tehran’s nuclear program before the June 30 deadline.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif held private talks with his French and German counterparts before attending a larger meeting with EU leaders.

Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France, one of the countries most cautious about a possible deal, said he wanted a “robust” agreement that includes verification of military sites and immediate resumption of sanctions if Iran violates its commitments.

As the June 30 deadline looms, there is little evidence a deal will be made.
