France Wants to Inspect Iranian Nuclear Sites

France will block a deal on Iran’s nuclear program unless Iran gives inspectors access to all its nuclear installations, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said yesterday.

Last week, Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said he would never permit inspectors to visit Iran’s military sites.

Iran and six major powers reached a tentative agreement on Iran’s nuclear program on April 2, but are now racing to finalize the deal before June 30. The deal would allow Iran to build nuclear power plants and remove the West’s sanctions on Iran.

This impasse over the inspection of military sites could prove a serious obstacle to the conclusion of the deal.
