Backstage With a Broadway Icon

Armstrong Auditorium prepares to host Brian Stokes Mitchell in concert.

Tony-award-winning baritone Brian Stokes Mitchell will appear in concert the evening of Thursday, November 10, at Armstrong Auditorium.

Dubbed “The Last Leading Man” by the New York Times, Mitchell has enjoyed a rich and varied career on Broadway, television, film and recordings, along with appearances in the great American concert halls. A true renaissance man, his credits include work as an actor, singer, dancer, voice-over artist, author, arranger, orchestrator, conductor and record producer.

For his appearance at Armstrong Auditorium, Mitchell will be backed by his jazz combo to present a program of jazz and Broadway favorites.

The Armstrong International Cultural Foundation sat down with Mitchell the day before his concert for a brief discussion about music, performing, and satisfying audience expectations.
