U.S. decline and the return of the Holy Roman Empire
Editor in chief Gerald Flurry chaired our weekly editorial meeting yesterday afternoon and provided our writers with a sharpened focus on what to look for in the weeks ahead.
“Things are falling apart in Israel,” he told us, referring to the modern-day descendants of Israel, including the United States and Britain. He mentioned a report he noticed recently that said by 2020, Social Security, Medicare and interest on national debt would consume about 80 percent of the U.S. government’s revenue. His comment brought to mind a piece we linked to yesterday, which said, “The government already has made so many promises to so many expanding ‘mandatory’ programs. Just keeping these commitments, without major changes in taxing and spending, will lead to deficits that cannot be sustained” (emphasis mine).
You would think this grim reality would prompt politicians to slam the brakes on spending. But most of them actually believe the only way out of this financial mess is to spend more.
Meanwhile, as the burden of debt crushes the United States, in Europe, the Holy Roman Empire is back. “It’s amazing how far Germany has come,” our editor in chief noted in the meeting. “Only Germany can bail out Greece—that says a lot about how powerful they are.”
He believes the Greece crisis is revealing how the European Union will be whittled down to the biblically prophesied 10 regions, headed by 10 kings, who all receive their “power as kings one hour with the beast” (Revelation 17:12).
On this development, theTrumpet.com has been well ahead of the mark. For more than 65 years, counting accurate analysis of our predecessor, the Plain Truth, we have been prophesying the final resurrection of the Holy Roman Empire. That has happened.
Now we wait for the super-sized Euro-combine to be pared down to 10 kings. That too will happen—and soon. Look for much more to be written about this prophecy in the future.
