According to the May 23, 2004, Washington Times, for every 100 children born in the year 2000, 60 of them will spend part of their childhood in a broken family.
These families, the article said, are more likely to be dependent on welfare and to wrestle with drug and alcohol addictions than stable families. Children of divorce will most likely end up with a lower grade point average than those coming from a traditional family. They are also four times more likely to be expelled.
As we have noted on numerous occasions, the family is the basic building block of any society. When the traditional family breaks down, society crumbles along with it. Though parents seeking divorce may think about the negative impacts on their children, how many consider the effect it will have on society?
