Anti-Semitic crimes in New York City rose sharply in January
On Monday, the New York City Police Department reported 31 alleged anti-Semitic hate crimes last month, an increase of 182 percent compared to last January. This rise occurred during the city’s first month under Muslim mayor Zohran Mamdani, who canceled two executive orders supporting Israel on his first day in office. Mamdani’s election worsens the problem of anti-Semitism in the city, but the trend is rising around the world. To understand its root cause, read “We Need to Talk About Anti-Semitism.”
