Trump Announces 25 Percent Tariff on India

Indian exports to the United States will be subject to a 25 percent tariff effective August 1, U.S. President Donald Trump announced in a social media post Wednesday.

Keeping Russia alive: President Trump criticized India for supporting Russia’s war on Ukraine by buying Russian arms and fuel, defying Western sanctions. He stated that because of this, India will incur a further unspecified penalty.

“They have always bought a vast majority of their military equipment from Russia, and are Russia’s largest buyer of energy, along with China, at a time when everyone wants Russia to stop the killing in Ukraineall things not good!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Partners: India is one of Russia’s major trade partners, an essential buoy to Russia’s wartime economy.

  • The value of their bilateral trade exceeds $60 billion, and India expects this figure to reach $100 billion before 2030.
  • India is purchasing record amounts of Russian oil and coal.

Alienated: Though President Trump maintains that India is a friend of the U.S., India’s trade with Russia shows it has shifted away. This tariff recognizes that fact and could prompt India to shift further.

Asia arises: The Bible prophesies an immense Asian alliance in the end time will be headed by Russia and China and will include India. That is why the Trumpet watches as India distances itself from the U.S. and strengthens its relationship with Russia and China.
