China Hosts Central Asia Summit

Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping is hosting the first in-person summit with Central Asian leaders from May 18 to 19. Leaders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are meeting in Xian, China, to discuss increasing security ties and promote economic engagement between the six countries.

During the first day of the summit, Xi will conduct one-on-one meetings with each leader, and on the second day, Xi “will deliver an important speech” and the six leaders will “jointly sign an important political document.”

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, called the summit “the first major diplomatic event” that China will host this year, adding that it is “of milestone significance in the history of the relations between China and Central Asian countries.”

[F]or 30 years, Central Asia has been situated in a complicated geopolitical atmosphere. One of the reasons why regional countries can thrive despite the multiple unstable factors is because China and Russia have cooperated on maintaining safety and stability in the region. China and Russia have a shared interest on this issue.

Kings of the east: All five of these Central Asian nations were part of the Soviet Union. They have an extensive history of partnership with Russia, and now they are deepening ties with China.

The collaboration of these Asiatic nations was prophesied in the Bible. Revelation 16:12 prophesies of an alliance of nations called “the kings of the east.” Other passages, such as Ezekiel 38, further explain that this alliance of Eastern nations will include the majority of Asia and will be led by Russia and China.
