Russia: Ukraine Attempted to Assassinate Putin With Drones

Russia accused Ukraine of attempting to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 3. Russian officials claim that two Ukrainian drones targeted the Kremlin in the early hours of the morning, with one exploding over the Senate Palace.

Putin was not in the Kremlin at the time, but Russia called the incident a “pre-planned act of terrorism and an attempt on the life of the Russian president.” On May 4, Russia accused the United States of masterminding the attack. Russia says it has the right to retaliate.

Social media accounts linked to Russia’s law enforcement posted videos of the incident, but analysts are unable to confirm the authenticity of the clips.

Attempts to disown this, both in Kyiv and in Washington, are, of course, absolutely ridiculous. We know very well that decisions about such actions, about such terrorist attacks, are made not in Kyiv but in Washington.
—Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman

Threats: Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev recommended a severe response: “After today’s terrorist attack, there are no options left other than the physical elimination of [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy and his clique. He is not even needed to sign the act of unconditional capitulation. Hitler, as you know, did not sign it either.”

Russia’s former deputy prime minister, Dmitry Rogozin, now acting as a military adviser, said Russia should respond by using nuclear weapons against Ukraine. “According to our [nuclear] doctrine, we have the right to use tactical nuclear weapons because that’s what they exist for,” he said, adding that they are a “great equalizer for the moments when there is a clear discrepancy in the enemy’s favor.”

The defense: President Zelenskyy denied Russia’s claim, and his adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, said Russia could be trying “to justify massive strikes on Ukrainian cities, on the civilian population, on infrastructure facilities.”

We don’t attack Putin or Moscow. We fight on our territory. We are defending our villages and cities.
—Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The U.S. has also denied Russia’s accusations. “There was no involvement by the United States in [the Kremlin incident]. Whatever it was did not involve us,” said White House national security spokesman John Kirby. “We had nothing to do with this.”

‘False flag’: Many analysts also question the validity of Russia’s accusations. Some say Russia could have staged the event in order to justify escalating attacks in the Ukraine War or to simply strengthen the support of the Russian people for the war.

[C]ould be a Russian operation to make Ukraine look reckless, either to weaken Western support or try to shore up Russian domestic support.
—Phillips P. O’ Brien, professor of Strategic Studies

[The attack was] a planned Russia false flag operation to justify further attacks on Ukraine or civilians in Ukraine. Lots of images doing the rounds in recent months of antiaircraft, anti-air defense units in Moscow on the roofs of office buildings in central Moscow. So it’s pretty extraordinary if it is true that Ukraine was able to launch weapons of this kind from Ukrainian territory and get them all the way to the walls of the Kremlin in the middle of Moscow.

[I]t reeks of desperation [from Russia]. And it’s a high-risk strategy likely to be exposed.
— James Nixey, Chatham House think tank analyst

Prophesied tyrant: It is not yet clear how Russia plans to respond to the alleged attack, but one thing is certain: Putin will do anything he thinks will bolster Russian power. “The Russia-Ukraine war is giving the world a vivid picture of the scale of evil Putin is willing to commit,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote in the May-June Trumpet issue.

By accusing Ukraine of attacking President Putin, Russia has the pretext to dole out even more harm on the already ransacked nation. And since Russia is blaming the incident on America, it is possible Russia will try to justify even greater attacks.

The final outcome of this war is unknown, but the Bible tells us Russia is in it to destroy.

Putin is an evil, ruthless, vindictive agent with Soviet-style methods of psychological warfare, assassination and war. He has disgusting and devastating policies that are sick to the core and even satanic! Did you know that he is fulfilling a prophetic role forecast many centuries ago? If you can believe it, a perfect description of 21st-century Russia and its tyrannical dictator is recorded in the sixth-century b.c. book of Ezekiel.
