German Chancellor Becomes First Western Leader to Visit China Since COVID

 

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as well as the country’s top business leaders met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing today, in the first trip to China by a G-7 leader in three years.

Scholz has pushed for a close relationship with China despite its recent advances toward dictatorship and widespread opposition within Germany.
