President Obama Did Order the Churchill Bust to Be Removed

One of the first pieces to go when United States President Barack Obama entered the Oval Office in 2009 was a bust of Winston Churchill. The decision sparked controversy between the United States and United Kingdom. Some thought it was a snub and a signal of the end of the special relationship between the two nations. At the time, the White House was firm in saying the return of the bust to the UK was just a matter of course and wasn’t something the president or his administration chose to do. During a press conference last week, however, President Obama revealed that he was the one who decided to remove the bust.
