Solve Problems at the Gym

Researchers at the University of Illinois have also found that problem solving and thinking ability improve in aging adults when they are physically fit. The study monitored cognitive skills of 41 adults between the ages of 58 and 78 who were put on regular exercise programs. According to an ap story in February, “After three months the adults … showed increased brain activity and had an 11 percent improvement on tests that measured their decision-making while performing a variety of tasks” (February 16).

The exercise program consisted of only three brisk walks per week.
