German Defense Minister Meets With Indian Prime Minister

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today.

During her visit, von der Leyen focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Germany and India in order to maintain trade between the two nations.

“The economic structure and the international network of Germany and Europe are particularly depending on secure trade routes, are depending on access to markets; we are an exporting nation, are extremely depending on a stable international order. We want a close dialogue with India, as a partner,” she stated.

Germany is India’s most important trading partner within the European Union, with bilateral trade amounting to $17 billion per year.
