The Most Dramatic Middle East Headline—Soon to Be Reported

Where is the chaos in Gaza headed?

With so much activity going on along Israel’s western border—rocket attacks and counterattacks—attention has zeroed in on some of Israel’s most critical issues. A frenzy of news headlines designed to capture the world’s attention have hit the Internet:

“Rockets Hit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv”

“Israel Hits Hamas, Jihad Leaders”

“U.S. and Egypt Broker Ceasefire”

But the most shocking news story—and the most important one by far concerning the small nation of Israel—has not yet been written. Here it is:

“Half of Jerusalem Falls to Arabs”

What an astounding headline—and you read it here first. This news story has been declared by the Trumpet for decades. Although this event hasn’t happened yet, we are absolutely sure it will. Why? Because it is prophesied in the Holy Bible.

“For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city” (Zechariah 14:2).

This is news in advance—prophecy. Yet so many in this world, even those who claim to believe in God, dismiss His prophecies. Do you realize God will act on what He says? This is no whimsical statement in Zechariah 14. In fact, the fall of half of Jerusalem is only part of a far more awe-inspiring promise.

There is much more to this incredible news story, some of which we are seeing fulfilled before our eyes today.

The book of Hosea gives more detail, shedding light on the lead-up to the dividing of Jerusalem. “When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound” (Hosea 5:13).

Here we see a wound that is inflicted on Judah—the modern nation of Israel in the Middle East. What is wounding Israel today more than anything? Without question, it is the ongoing problem of the two-state solution and the constant fighting between Palestinians and Israel. For decades Israel has struggled to coexist with its Palestinian neighbors. The West Bank and Gaza have been a thorn in Israel’s side for years. Vast stretches of concrete wall and razor wire interspersed with checkpoints are stark testimony to Israel’s attempts to bandage this seeping wound.

The international community ostracizes Israel. And the Jewish nation’s closest ally, the United States, is in the process of abandoning it.

The prophecies of the wound itself have been thoroughly reported by the Trumpet, but have been overlooked by the rest of the world. Editor in chief Gerald Flurry’s booklet Jerusalem in Prophecy gives a thorough explanation of the wound and its effects.

But this wound is only a lead-up to what comes next: the fall of half of Jerusalem and Israel’s plea for help.

Hosea 5:13 tells us to whom Israel will turn in an effort to solve its problems: Assyria. Our literature proves that the Assyrians were the ancestors of the German people today (read our e-book The Remarkable Identity of the German People). From this scripture (and others, such as Daniel 11:40-43 and Ezekiel 23:11-12), we can see that Israel will call upon Europe to save it!

Today, Europe is taking a serious interest in the Middle East. Relations between the political heads of Israel and Germany have never been as close as they are now. Just recently, the entire German cabinet visited Jerusalem.

Yet the prophecies show that Israel would do well to trust God rather than Germany. A terrible double cross is prophesied to occur! Europe will enter occupied East Jerusalem and deal with the Arabs, just as it did in the crusades of old. But Europe won’t stop there.

As Mr. Flurry wrote in Jerusalem in Prophecy, “The Vatican and Germany are the heart of the Holy Roman Empire. They have conquered Jerusalem several times before. And they are destined to do so one last time!”

Few stories—or even Hollywood movies—contain drama like this. All this news is promised by God in the world’s number one bestseller, the Bible. But how few really know and believe it.

In his booklet Zechariah: The Sign of Christ’s Imminent Return, Mr. Flurry writes, “Can you and I believe God and all of these spectacular prophecies? Christ gave all Jerusalem to the Jews so prophecy could be fulfilled. So just a little faith tells us that the prophecy about the Jews losing half of Jerusalem will also be fulfilled.”

It is incredible news that everyone should be aware of, yet even the headline trumpeting the fall of half of Jerusalem pales in insignificance compared to where that fall leads.

Jerusalem is a domino. Its fall leads to the fulfillment of many more earthshaking prophecies! All these prophecies lead to one spectacular, mind-blowing headline—the biggest ever:

“Jesus Christ Returns!”

Now that is news! As sure as God promises that Jerusalem will fall in violence, He promises that His Son will return to Earth and put down all rebellion and establish God’s government throughout the world! Read it for yourself in Zechariah 14.

So much disheartening news is happening in the Middle East right now, but we can’t let it distract us from the prophecies about to become front-page news throughout the world. The turmoil engulfing Israel today is about to intensify—it will continue right up until the most explosive and inspiring headline is finally proclaimed:

Jesus Christ, the Son of God RETURNS!
