Germany Introduces New Veterans Day

The German parliament voted Thursday to set aside June 15 as Germany’s annual Veterans Day. One month earlier, on May 15, there will be a celebration in Berlin and other associated events throughout Germany.

Military support: For decades after Germany’s stunningly shameful World War ii history, openly honoring the nation’s military history was not something many were comfortable with. This new measure furthers Germany’s push toward becoming a “normal” country again.

The idea for a veterans day was introduced 12 years ago but lacked support. Now things are changing; Germany is much more supportive of its army.

Promotion: Johannes Arlt, the politician who forwarded the idea, was deployed abroad seven times from 2014 to 2019, experiencing firsthand the lack of national recognition Germany’s armed forces receive. “For a long time, there seemed to be scant interest in these people,” he said.

Russia’s war on Ukraine and other global trends have been changing that, and with this new law, Arlt aims to forward that shift.

Hitler-esque rise? The Bible prophesied that World War ii would not truly end German militarism. Knowing this, the late educator Herbert W. Armstrong warned that Germany would arise to wage war once again. This time, though, Germany will be united with several European nations and far more powerful than it was 85 years ago.
